Summary of Job Duties:We are currently seeking a qualified provider to join our patient-centered care team as an Advanced Practice Nurse/Physician Assistant (APRN/PA) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). In this role, you will support the operations at the Jonesboro Family Medical Center (FMC) by serving as a key clinical extension. Your responsibilities will include managing clinic workflows efficiently, coordinating complex visit schedules, and performing ENT procedures with accuracy. You will independently handle patient evaluations in collaboration with supervising physicians to ensure seamless, high-quality outpatient care. The APRN/PA will conduct clinical assessments, assist with care coordination, respond to messages via MyChart and in-basket, address patient inquiries, and manage prescriptions. In the outpatient setting, duties include evaluating new and follow-up patients, reviewing pathology and imaging results, and providing comprehensive patient education and follow-up planning. The ideal candidate will possess advanced clinical expertise to accurately assess, diagnose, and treat patient issues. Additionally, the APRN/PA will serve as a primary communicator between the care team and patients, ensuring timely and accurate information exchange.

  • Three (3) years of nursing experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas

Outpatient expectations

  • See and evaluate postoperative and established patients for medication management of common ear, nose, and throat in conjunction with otolaryngologists.
  • Perform otomicroscopy with cerumen removal, flexible fiberoptic laryngoscopy, videostroboscopy, nasal endoscopy, and sinus debridement with supervision of a physician.
  • Perform skin and soft tissue biopsies of the mouth and throat with assistance of a physician.

  • Coordinates specialized, multidisciplinary care and facilitates consults of patients to ensure timely and appropriate treatment.
  • Provides comprehensive health assessments, determines diagnoses, implements treatment plans, prescribes medical treatments, and manages health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician.
  • Collaborates with a variety of health care professionals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems, serving as a resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
  • Manages post procedure immunosuppression and labs of the patient in coordination with the physician and pharmacist.
  • Participates in institutional initiatives and encourages the participation of others.
  • Collaborates in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.
  • Edits and documents results in various critical care systems
  • May undertake additional duties as assigned to support the clinical mission..
