Job description

Overview:
Signalink is looking to hire a Technical Writer that will work with a diverse team comprised of engineering, logistics, and airframe/system subject matter experts to create technical publications in support of U.S. Army Program Executive Office - Aviation (PEO AVN) and U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center (AvMC).
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Maintain knowledge and proficiency with the current logistics standards including, but not limited to, MIL-HDBK-1222C, AMC-P 700-25, MIL-PRF-63002J, and MIL-STD-400051 and be able to apply them to company documentation or government furnished documentation.
  • Carry out preliminary and final development of detailed logistic work including Technical Manual (TM) work package development, operator manual updates and changes, and Modification Work Orders (MWOs).
  • Assist engineering with technical documentation through redline incorporation, troubleshooting, and on-site real-time document updates.
  • Participate in comprehensive document review and editing of peer documents.
  • Responsible for reporting progress of all assigned tasks to the project lead and ensuring files are kept up to date and stored in accordance with company procedures.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • 5-10 years of applicable experience in a government or contractor setting
  • Experience developing US Army or other DoD technical publications, including MWOs and TMs (both Operator and Maintenance work packages)
  • Active secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time

Preferred Experience and Knowledge:
  • Bachelor's degree in an applicable field from an accredited college or university
  • Experience with modifications or maintenance, including performing maintenance or installations on a variety of military equipment including aircraft, special equipment and ground vehicles.
  • Proficient in interpreting and translating complex schematics, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Capable of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented environment.
  • Familiarity with ArborText and Adobe Illustrator
