General Description
SUNY Niagara has a need for a part time Music Instructor for our American Popular Music course.
This course is taught in person in a classroom setting on our Sanborn, NY campus. This music course is a survey of American popular music from its roots to the present day. It will trace the acculturation process to the creation of Jazz and Rock n' Roll to present day popular music forms. It investigates American music as it relates to cultural and social as well as discussing music in terms of structure and artistic value. The ability to read music notation is not a necessity. The course is required of music majors and recommended for the non-music major or students without previous music experience.
Remuneration for this position is: $1,008 per lecture hour/$903 per lab hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Essential Functions
Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Three years of experience teaching at a high school or college level

Desirable Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Music or related field
• Experience using Microsoft Office software i.e. Excel and Word
• Experience with the Brightspace learning management system.
