Position Summary

There's an exciting opening for a Ice Crew on the campus of Arizona State University for the new 5,000 seat multi-purpose arena and community ice rink. The new arena is the home to ASU Sun Devil Men's Ice Hockey, ASU Wrestling ,G league basketball as well as variety of events, including concerts,  family shows, comedy and other live events. The new community ice rink will serve as a public venue to the community and will host hockey and skating programming, youth competitions, educational opportunities and more. 

The position reports directly to the Head Ice Technician, and will be responsible for supporting ice operations staff to ensure that all  Sun Devils home games run smoothly and that all NCAA requirements for removal of snow and proper maintenance of the ice surface are met. This includes arriving three hours prior to the start of each game to assist with pre-game duties like cleaning of rink glass and setting up work stations. 

This role will pay an hourly rate of $16.00 to $20.00

This position will remain open until July 10, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Duties include but are not limited to prepping and organizing game day tools, cleaning hockey shielding, maintaining dasher boards, cleaning and prepping game nets, prepping and maintaining ice resurfacer.
  • Participate in all aspects of the preparation for ice events.
  • Maintain and clean all applicable tools and storage areas.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all staff and guests.
  • Inspect ice and surrounding areas for any damage or broken parts.
  • Assist in Ice install and Ice out.
  • Assist Head Ice Technician with any relevant projects.
  • Be able to lift and maneuver goal frames.
  • General knowledge of use of power tools.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in the field, Sports/Entertainment/Hospitality venues preferred 
  • Proven ability to work as a team and work well with others.
  • Knowledge of the process of logo install and removal with regards to paint or textile.
  • Strong ice skating ability. 
  • Ability to work event nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Experience in an arena, stadium, convention center or other multi-purpose public assembly facility preferred
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid CPR certificate
  •  Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software
  • Operate standard office equipment including printer, copier, computer and fax machine.
  • Written/Oral communications - ability to speak and write clearly and concisely, get messages across that have the desired effect

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required.
  • Frequent bending, lifting up to 75 pounds, sitting, standing, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
