Position Summary
The General Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for the daily operation, financial performance, and guest experience of Equipment Room, a 38-seat HiFi vinyl listening lounge featuring an elevated cocktail program. This is a working management position that leads by example-actively participating in service, engaging with guests, supporting the team during peak periods, and ensuring every shift delivers an exceptional experience. Working alongside the Service Manager, the General Manager focuses on the overall success of the business, including financial performance, team leadership, beverage operations, inventory management, and strategic planning. The General Manager partners closely with the Hotel Director of Food & Beverage while collaborating with Marketing, Sales, and Finance to grow the business and deliver a best-in-class guest experience.
Essential Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, coach, and develop the Equipment Room team alongside the Service Manager.
Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain exceptional hospitality professionals.
Create weekly schedules and oversee payroll to meet labor targets.
Conduct pre-shift meetings and ongoing coaching to reinforce service standards.
Mentor the Service Manager and provide direction on operational priorities.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and genuine hospitality.
Operations & Guest Experience
  • Serve as the floor leader during service while supporting the team as needed.
  • Ensure an elevated and personalized guest experience for every guest.
  • Maintain the unique atmosphere and hospitality standards of Equipment Room.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Partner with the Service Manager to ensure smooth daily operations and consistent execution.
    Beverage & Inventory Management
  • Oversee execution of the cocktail and beverage program.
  • Manage beverage ordering and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Complete weekly liquor and supply inventories.
  • Monitor beverage cost, waste, and purchasing to achieve financial goals.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and oversee purchase orders.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and responsible alcohol service standards.

Business Management
  • Own the financial performance of the outlet, including labor, beverage cost, and controllableexpenses.
  • Review daily sales, labor, and financial reports to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets, forecasting, and monthly financial reviews.
  • Develop action plans to improve profitability while maintaining service standards.
  • Ensure accurate payroll, invoicing, and operational reporting.

Hotel Collaboration
  • Partner with the Hotel Director of Food & Beverage on business strategy, financial performance, andoperational initiatives.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to promote programming, seasonal cocktail menus, andspecial events.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team to execute private events, buyouts, VIP experiences, and groupbusiness.
  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, payroll, inventory reconciliation, month-end reporting, and costcontrol initiatives.
  • Support hotel-wide initiatives while protecting the unique identity of Equipment Room.

Music & Programming
  • Protect the integrity of the HiFi listening experience.
  • Coordinate with Breakaway selectors, musicians, and event partners.
  • Ensure music, lighting, and ambiance align with the Equipment Room brand.
  • Support programming that drives community engagement and repeat business.
