ABC57 News in South Bend, Indiana is looking for a driven journalist to join the news team. ABC57 is an award-winning newsroom focused on delivering impactful local news and storytelling. We are committed to gathering responsible, meaningful stories that make a difference in our community, not just "content."


About the Role

Develop original, enterprise stories and cultivate strong sources 

Showcase strong writing skills, time management abilities, and a confident on-camera presence

Bring video and editing proficiency

Contribute positively as a collaborative team member 


What You'll Do

Pitch compelling story ideas and develop reliable leads 

Produce at least one story per day across multiple formats, including a written web article

Use social media to develop stories, engage audiences, and share updates

Deliver live reports for daily newscasts

Shoot and edit video for broadcast and digital platforms

Adapt quickly and pivot coverage during breaking news situations

Follow editorial direction and newsroom standards

Perform other duties, as assigned


What You'll Need

A valid driver's license

A submitted demo reel showcasing your work

Excellent writing, spelling, and grammar skills

Strong media proficiency

No conflicts of interest, including brand sponsorships or influencer affiliations

Flexibility to work early mornings, late nights, and weekends as needed 

Experience with video cameras, non-linear editing, and newsroom rundown software(preferred)

The physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle necessary equipment
