Position Summary

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to supervise and coordinate the activities and operations of the Engineering Department, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems and commercial HVAC operations, including safety, security, and event staffing functions; to provide highly responsible staff assistance to the Director of Operations.

This role requires extensive hands-on oversight of commercial HVAC infrastructure, electrical systems maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization, ensuring all building systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards. Strong technical expertise in both electrical and HVAC disciplines is essential.

This role pays an annual salary of $75,000-$80,000

Responsibilities
  • Assume management responsibility for all activities involved in the maintenance and operation of the facility, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems (journeyman/master electrician-level oversight) and commercial HVAC operations, in addition to mechanical, plumbing, and grounds maintenance.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for facility maintenance and operations; meet with staff to identify and resolve complex electrical and HVAC system issues; assign work activities, projects, and programs; monitor workflow; and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance standards and reporting practices required by the Agreement with Palm Beach County, including effective management of the MicroMain system to optimize preventive and corrective maintenance programs, with emphasis on HVAC and electrical asset tracking, reliability, and performance management.
  • Oversee the setup of utility services for events; coordinate facility arrangements with concessionaires; and assist the Director of Operations in directing and monitoring contractors, engineers, and architects on capital projects, with emphasis on electrical infrastructure and commercial HVAC systems.
  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate supervisory and line-level trades staff, including electricians and HVAC technicians; provide or coordinate technical training in electrical systems, controls, and commercial HVAC equipment; and implement corrective action, discipline, and termination procedures within company guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Maintenance Engineering Department budget, including forecasting staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies with specific focus on electrical and HVAC system reliability, preventive maintenance, and lifecycle replacement needs; monitor expenditures and recommend approvals or adjustments.
  • Maintain hazardous materials communication programs, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and required permits, ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations related to electrical and HVAC operations and facility maintenance.
  • Order supplies and materials within budget guidelines, including electrical components, HVAC parts, tools, and maintenance supplies; receive and maintain accurate inventory control records.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required in a team-oriented environment that promotes exceptional service delivery, safety, and operational excellence, with a strong focus on electrical and commercial HVAC system performance and reliability.
Qualifications
  • Strong journeyman-level electrician and commercial HVAC experience required, with demonstrated hands-on expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex building systems in large-scale facilities.
  • Extensive experience in the repair and maintenance of commercial HVAC systems, including solid-state controls (Johnson Controls Metasys system preferred), water-cooled chillers, cooling towers, VAV boxes, AHUs, fan coil units, and DX systems.
  • Proficiency in the operation of computer-based Building Management Systems (BMS), along with sufficient computer skills to effectively use standard office applications for reporting, maintenance tracking, and system diagnostics.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems maintenance and repair, along with experience maintaining major facility systems including plumbing, structural components, painting, grounds, and interior finishes in large, client-centered operations.
  • Possession of valid EPA certification for the handling and use of refrigerants associated with commercial HVAC systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and standards related to facility maintenance, electrical safety, and HVAC operations.
  • Experience in Convention Center and/or Hotel environments is strongly preferred, particularly in high-volume, public-facing facilities requiring rapid response and operational reliability.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of building maintenance experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead capacity overseeing electrical and HVAC trades personnel.
  • Minimum education requirement of high school diploma or equivalent (12th grade), supplemented by specialized technical training in electrical systems, commercial HVAC operation, and building maintenance systems.
