Position Overview:

Excellence Community Schools is seeking a passionate, patient, quick-thinking, amp; innovative Music Teacher. This position currently includes responsibility for classroom music for Elementary or Middle School. Experience in a classroom music setting engaging all children is desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides instruction in music in a variety of settings amp; uses effective instructional techniques tailored to individual student’s goals and objective amp; provides instruction and support in the area of music education.
  • Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
  • Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards.
  • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
  • Participate in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
  • Provide consistent rewards and/or consequences for student behavior.
  • Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Connecticut State Teaching Certification in Education/Music Grades 1-6 or Middle School required
  • A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience in music education, working with children, and providing music instruction in an urban school setting is required.
  • Passionate about teaching music and enforcing the learning of music concepts required.
  • Have educational and/or professional training in developing and implementing a music education program for children

Compensation amp; Benefits

  • Salary Range: ($53,235- $118,163). Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
