Job description

DEPARTMENT: Museums

LOCATION: African American Military History Museum

SHIFT: Part-time: Generally Wednesday โ€“ Saturday, Shift will vary between the hours of 9:00 a.m. โ€“ 5:00 p.m.; some nights, weekends, and holidays will be required. Maximum of 29 hours per week.

REPORTS TO: Museum Manager

SUMMARY: The Museum Information Specialist (MIS) is responsible for greeting visitors upon arrival. The MIS must be willing to learn about the Sixth Street Districtโ€™s exhibits and history in order to present information to guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

โ€ข Powering on/off Museum equipment at the start/close of each day, as well as completing all other opening and closing procedures

โ€ข Greeting Museum visitors

โ€ข Answering and directing phone calls

โ€ข Maintaining up-to-date visitors stats report

โ€ข Completing Daily Reconciliation Sales Sheet at the end of each shift

โ€ข Conducting guided tours for audiences of diverse backgrounds such as, but isnโ€™t limited to: school age children, special needs groups, young adults & seniors

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Work Experience

โ€ข The MIS must be able to retain knowledge about attractions within the Sixth Street Museum District.
