What is a mural assistant?

Mural Assistants are individuals who support lead mural artists in creating large-scale artworks on walls or other surfaces. Their responsibilities often include preparing surfaces, organizing materials, mixing paints, and sometimes painting sections under the direction of the main artist. Mural Assistants help ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently while learning valuable artistic and technical skills. This role is ideal for those interested in collaborative art and gaining experience in public art projects.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a mural assistant?

To thrive as a Mural Assistant, you need foundational skills in drawing, painting, and surface preparation, often supported by experience in art or design. Familiarity with tools like brushes, scaffolding, projectors, and safety equipment is common in this role. Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail help you work efficiently with lead artists and adapt to changing project needs. These abilities ensure murals are executed safely, accurately, and in line with artistic vision and client expectations.

As a Speech Language Pathologist within the stunning coastline of Texas, your role transcends mere communication and swallowing therapy. Instead, you'll be a beacon of hope, restoring confidence and nurturing connections - whether it's a child who is just beginning to speak or an elder aiming to regain their voice after a challenging life event.
This exciting position not only caters to a diverse spectrum of patients but also merges outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient involvement. • Craft tailored treatment plans addressing immediate and long-term communication, cognitive, or deglutition needs.
  • Deliver individualized speech therapy focused on aspects such as language, voice, fluency, and swallowing proficiency.
  • Engage in collaborative care with physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical staff, caregivers, and families to ensure seamless therapy strategies.
  • Provide essential educational resources for patients and families, empowering them to support healing efforts outside of therapy sessions.
  • Participate in patient evaluations and therapy on occasion for inpatient cases, maintaining essential care continuity throughout their journey.
  • Keep thorough documentation that complies with all state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Enhance your skills through ongoing education and peer collaboration opportunities.

  • Finished a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not already ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of joining.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment modalities for all age groups, with a keen insight into developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing challenges.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Adept at adapting therapy methods to accommodate cultural and linguistic variances.
  • Strong problem-solving skills coupled with clinical insight.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation protocols.
Benefits
  • Attractive compensation reflecting your experience and contributions.
  • Flexible work schedules that promote a healthy work-life balance.
  • Opportunities to hone expertise in pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay.
  • Health coverages including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Support for continuing education and professional development.
  • A collaborative workplace valuing quality care and lifelong learning.

A Career Filled with Purpose and Passion
In this position, you won't merely provide speech therapy; you will weave yourself into an engaging community intent on reviving voices, strengthening communication bonds, and creating joy through shared understanding.
You'll work shoulder to shoulder with passionate clinicians who regard each other as family, in an environment that emphasizes teamwork over rivalry. Every individual you assist has a unique story; we are confident in your ability to help shape the narrative for each one.
Why You'll Fall in Love with Living and Working Here
This region captures the essence of life along the Texas coast, harmonizing a vibrant atmosphere rich in opportunity with the warmth of southern hospitality. Surrounded by picturesque beaches and breathtaking views, it serves as the perfect escape for those seeking a rich balance of nature, culture, and career advancement.
Families delight in evenings spent beachside while outdoor enthusiasts revel in sun-soaked days engaging in water sports or strolling along scenic trails. Culinary aficionados can indulge in a diverse array of dining experiences, from cozy taco joints to stylish eateries showcasing the best of local cuisine.
The artistic vibe pulses through every mural, resonates from bars featuring local talent, and celebrates festivals that unite diverse communities. For those pursuing career aspirations, the perks extend further than lifestyle benefits - the absence of state income tax, reasonable living costs, and a thriving healthcare industry position this area as an ideal landscape for professional growth.
No matter if you're embarking on your career journey or a seasoned practitioner ready for a fresh venture, you will discover the space and support necessary for personal and professional evolution.
Who We're Seeking
We're on the lookout for a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist who approaches their work with both compassion and diligence. A professional who perceives a shy child and envisions a bright future filled with expression or hears the uncertain voice of a stroke survivor and senses unwavering determination.
You may be a pediatric expert wanting to branch out into adult care - or a clinician versed in neuro rehabilitation eager to blend early intervention into your practice.
Regardless of your specializations, if you're poised to bring empathy and exceptional skills to the role, we invite you to be part of our family.
Let's Connect Through Communication
If you understand that speech encompasses more than mere sounds, and therapy reaches beyond tasks - if you value the trust built through genuine connection and embrace the laughter as much as language - then this opportunity may become a remarkable next chapter in your professional journey.
Join us in a community that celebrates connection, the power of communication, and the courage it takes to begin anew. Apply today to lend your voice to our team and help others discover theirs.
