Job description

VACANCY:  The Valley View School District is seeking an individual to fill a Nutrition Services Assistant Manager position for the 2025-2026 school year.  (TBD: location to be determined.)


QUALIFICATIONS:  Possess good organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and personnel.  They must possess high standards for food quality, customer service, and sanitation.  They must be willing to learn all aspects of the kitchen so that they are able to fill in for the manager in the manager's absence. Assistant managers must maintain a Food Service Sanitation Managers Certificate (FSSMC). 
REPORTS TO:  Nutrition Services Manager
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:   




  • Manages the kitchen operation in the absence of the manager.
  • Directs staff in kitchen as assigned by the manager.
  • Is responsible for the preparation of meals seeing that they meet the standards for the school lunch quality standards set forth by the department.
  • Assists the manager in staff training; responsible for training staff in food preparation, food sanitation, customer service, and the safe and proper use of equipment and any other duty assigned.
  • Receives stock and directs its placement in the storage areas seeing that it is properly rotated.
  • Possesses knowledge on how to place orders for all incoming food and supplies; assists the manager with these tasks.
  • Assists the manager in maintaining accurate and timely records including, but not limited to, the Profit and Loss, Production Sheets, Inventories, Food and Supply Orders, Sick and Personal Day records and any other duty assigned.
  • Prepares food and helps with the service of the meal and clean up.
  • In most operations this staff member will rotate through all jobs in the kitchen including cashing so that she fully understands all jobs and how to perform them.
  • Is responsible for any other duty assigned by the manager. 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Part time hours of 6 - 8 hours per day and the work year consists of the school year plus additional days to open before the start of school, and additional days to close the kitchen after the school year ends.
PAY SCALE AND BENEFIT DISCLOSURE: 
Salary Range - $18.80 - $20.75 Per Hour
