Job Summary
One-Year Contract with Potential for Full-Time Employment
The Instructional Designer is responsible for the creation of engaging learning experiences and developing course content to facilitate effective knowledge acquisition. This role reports to the Lead Instructional Designer. Duties include interaction with Subject Matter Experts, management, and HR to develop training modules. As well as determining a feedback loop for created content in an effort of continuous improvement.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
  • Assist in organization-wide training needs assessments to identify skill and/or knowledge gaps that need training as well as aid in prioritizing the list.
  • Designing and developing training courses and curriculum while working with SMEs to design and develop modules and content. Utilizes multiple formats, including print, audio, visual, and multimedia, and selects the appropriate format for the target audience or content.
  • Creating learning activities, assignments, and assessments for both on-line and in-person training.
  • Where applicable, manage outside resources training content creation.
  • Utilizing multimedia tools to enhance the learning process.
  • Learn training methods and techniques, use learning to prepare and coordinate training sessions.
  • Managing online learning communities, content and training instructors on learning technologies.
  • Help determine training methods or activities (e.g., video, classroom, on-the-job training, at vendor, professional development classes, etc.).
  • Market company training opportunities to employees, encouraging participation by providing information on benefits of training curriculum.
  • Assist in informing team members on scheduled training events.
  • Gather and evaluate feedback from team members and management on training results to identify weaknesses and areas that need training improvement.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in instructional design or learning development in a business setting
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques
  • Experience with e-learning platforms
  • Experience with LMS training creation software programs such as Articulate, Adobe Captivate and Camtasia.
  • MS Office proficiency
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Passion for training and learning
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work as a part of a team

Preferred requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Instructional Design, education or related field
  • Hands-on experience in creating learning content
  • Knowledge of learning management systems and web delivery tools
  • Adept at graphic and creative design
  • 2+ years' experience with a metal service center and SAP knowledge

Job Compensation
$90k-100k + bonus incentive
