General Definition of Work
The senior manager of educational technology support, under intermittent supervision, performs intermediate-level work with intermediate decision-making discretion planning, coordinating, and implementing short-and long-range plans for the integration of technology into instructional programs and professional development that promotes excellence and supports transformational change throughout the K-12 instructional environment. Employee performs highly complex work to carry out the Board of Education policies and procedures under the director of the Executive Director of Educational Technology.

Essential Functions
  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
  • Lead, manage, and evaluate assigned programs
  • Investigate, analyze, and formulate methods for handling special projects/reports
  • Work with senior leadership on the development and quality of technology and learning services program elements and assist in developing briefings/status updates on the progress of staff programs and/or initiatives
  • Support and train school-level technology facilitators to implement educational technology best practices and skills at their schools
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with school leaders, other school-based and district staff and partners
  • Collaborate with team members on developing and promoting district instructional design standards and in the procurement, inventory, and surplus of technology equipment, systems, and related services
  • Support implementation of the district's digital transition toward mobile learning initiatives, special technology-enhanced programs, personalized learning methodology, and information technology (IT) curriculum integration in grades K-12
  • Implement strategies for initiating and sustaining technology innovations and support execution at the campus and district level
  • Implement and monitor technology initiatives utilizing a variety of devices, platforms, and mobile device management systems
  • Coach and model effective use of technology tools and resources in collaboration with teachers and district leaders to continuously assess student learning and technology literacy
  • Design, develop and implement technology-rich professional learning programs that model principles of adult learning and promote digital age best practices in teaching, learning and assessment for district-wide staff
  • Search for new and innovative ways to use technology in student instruction and create training programs using e-Learning tactics and software
  • Lead high-level sessions for program planning, schedule development and problem-solving projects
  • Provides guidance assigned personnel and develops training as needed
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional areas for resolution of tickets and issues
  • Support the creation and sustainability of standard operational procedures, best practices and other relevant documentation based on best practices, real-time and historical data and reporting

  • Comprehensive in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system policies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of educational standards, pedagogical theories, and best practices in teaching and learning

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of various learning styles, curriculum development and program evaluation, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to technology and learning
  • Thorough knowledge of implementing technology systems, devices, training, and support in a K-12 environment
  • Knowledge in digital tools to support learning pedagogy
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with instructional technology tools, learning management systems, and multimedia resources
  • Skilled in the use of current software to include word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing applications
  • Skilled in supporting large-scale IT initiatives within an educational environment including direct decision-making regarding computer hardware to support teaching and learning in an educational environment

Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in education or related field required
  • Valid NC teaching license with 077 Instructional Technology Specialist area required
  • Certified Educational Technology Leader (CETL), preferred
  • Certified Government Chief Information Officer, (CGCIO), preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in teaching, curriculum development/instructional design, or educational leadership required
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
