The Maintenance Technician is responsible for working safely, troubleshooting, upkeep, work area cleanliness, safety, and overall reliability of all factory mechanical systems and processes.  Quality, attention to detail, and documentation are essential for this position. Continuous equipment improvement, increased reliability, cross-functional training, and proper maintenance practices are key elements of successful job performance. 

Essential Functions: 

  • Assess and troubleshoot all capital equipment in plant. 

  • Support new equipment installations, repairs, and changeovers. 

  • Properly lockout and control equipment being repaired, maintained, overhauled, or in changeover. 

  • Repair all mechanical issues associated with production equipment, facility systems, and related machinery. 

  • Rebuild hydraulic cylinders, replace gears, sprockets, bearings, drives, gearboxes and related mechanical apparatus. 

  • Learn machine-specific setup, changeover, and maintenance protocols. 

  • Troubleshoot tooling, hydraulic, and mechanical drive issues. 

  • Solve mechanical problems associated with motion, speed, and alignment. 

  • Maintain appropriate stock of supplies and spare parts through documentation and coordination with Maintenance Management. 

  • Complete all PMs, workorders, and projects as directed by Maintenance Management.  Mechanical maintenance personnel are required to complete paperwork for all directed activities. 

  • Complete all required documentation accurately and completely. 

  • Perform other duties as required.  

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.  

  • Specific mechanical and/or welding coursework, certifications, and degrees highly desired. 

  • Previous experience in mechanical maintenance required. 

  • Ability to read, understand and follow blueprints 

  • Familiarity with precision gages such as calipers, micrometers, and dial gages 

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical manufacturing equipment such as but not limited to: 

  • Hydraulic systems 

  • Pneumatic systems 

  • Previous experience with mechanical equipment, machine operation, troubleshooting, hydraulics, and inspection/SPC highly preferred.   

  • The position requires frequent lifting, keen vision, team orientation, and careful attention to detail. 

Work Performed/Requirements: 

All maintenance personnel are required to: 

  • Keep their work areas clean. 

  • Always Wear standard personal protective equipment (PPE) (earplugs and safety glasses).  The following additional items will be worn as needed. 

  • Leather Gloves 

  • Welding shield 

  • goggles 

  • Collaborate with other personnel.  

  • Support troubleshooting, problem solving, root cause analysis, and related process improvement activities. 

  • Uphold 5-S principles. 

Work Conditions: 

Maintenance personnel work in an environment in which hearing protection is required.  Furthermore, maintenance personnel will be required to lift boxes, tooling, and other objects.  The work environment is consistent with other heavy manufacturing environments.  Therefore, proper precautions and care should be taken. 

All maintenance personnel are required to be in the plant at least five minutes prior to the start of the shift to communicate with the previous shift’s maintenance team.  Maintenance personnel must exhibit a team-based attitude, be willing to unconditionally support production, work overtime as directed, and be punctual. 

Mechanical Maintenance personnel may be exposed to the following, which may cause skin irritations. 

Class A Coatings and paints Class G Maintenance Items 

Class B Solvents and Alcohols Class H Miscellaneous Production Items 

Class C Chemicals Class I Metals 

Class D Acids (hydrochloric) Class J Oils, Grease, and lubricants 

Class E Leads and Alloys Class K Fuels
