Job description

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for performing treatments and technical procedures as required and within the defined scope of practice or validated competency.

Job Functions

  1. Gathers all necessary demographic and insurance information in order to register the patient.
  2. Assists nursing staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions.
  3. Obtains and articulates pertinent data in an objective manner.
  4. Communicates pertinent patient information to the RN or LPN to assure continuum of care.
  5. Documents the various aspects of care on appropriate forms according to RMC policies and procedures.
  6. Performs Patient Safety Attendant functions as needed.
  7. Prepares and transports patients for examination.
  8. Assists emergency staff in direct and non-direct patient care functions as delegated.
  9. Performs EKGs and point of care testing.
  10. Applies splints and braces on patients as ordered assuring good CMS after application.
  11. Performs mandatory equipment checks.
  12. Accompanies ambulance transports and assists with airway management as needed.
  13. Assists with transfer/discharge paperwork as well as patient registration.
  14. Demonstrates competencies in the specialty areas of Emergency, Urgent Care, and In-Patient.
  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Work Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of a Nursing Assistant or EMT course OR completion of a Nurse Internship with Ridgeview Medical Center OR an approved equivalent of education and experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
  • Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situation and diverse patient populations
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team
  • Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work and multi-task in a high stress and fast paced environment

License/Certifications

  • Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • EMT certification
  • Nursing Assistant Certification
  • Experience as a Nursing Assistant or EMT
