Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Market Asset Protection Manager (MAPM) manages Asset Protection and Safety program activities in two or more store locations within the assigned market and reports to the Regional Asset Protection Manager. This position will drive accountability, support store locations, and make shrink reduction part of everyday operations by ensuring AP strategies are appropriately executed to standards. The role is responsible to increase overall store profitability, reduce shrink and provide support to establish and maintain a safe and secure environment within their assigned locations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Conduct store visits (Business Snapshots) and audits to support and evaluate operational compliance, identify policy and procedure violations, assess store compliance in support of company policy, operational compliance and increased store profitability. This includes but is not limited to shrink reduction, asset management, process execution/inefficiencies, and operational controls.
  • Provides direct feedback to General Managers (GMs) on receiving, high-risk merchandise handling, and physical security. Success metrics will reflect completion of Snapshots, improvement in identified risk areas, and improved operational execution.
  • Guides store teams through Shrink Action Plans that are practical, and results driven.
  • Provides in the moment coaching to Outfitters and Managers on customer engagement, merchandise protection, and operational discipline. Success metrics will reflect year-over-year shrink improvement in assigned stores, execution of shrink initiatives, and coaching effectiveness.
  • Initiates and conducts investigations into all known or suspected violations of company policy with specific attention to potential dishonest activity.
  • Provides management reports summarizing and analyzing losses and potential profit loss as identified through audits and investigations; recommends and implements corrective action in conjunction with Store Operations counterparts.
  • Serves as liaison between local public authorities and company to coordinate and acquire information for the prosecution of individuals suspected of company theft.
  • Conducts training on Asset Protection policies and procedures to groups of associates including store associates, store managers and other field managers. Works collaboratively with building leaders on the importance of owning location shrink as an actionable item and not just reacting to it. Success metrics will reflect improved shrink awareness, stronger leadership engagement, and more effective case resolutions.
  • Create cross-functional partnerships with store AP Outfitters to identify operational shrink drivers and HR regarding policy enforcement as it relates to discount abuse and internal cases.
  • Coordinates all physical security for stores within assigned district; directs training for, and proper utilization of, electronic surveillance equipment and other security devices; provides necessary asset protection consultation and technical assistance to store management.
  • Observes and participates in inventory process as appropriate.
  • Develop strategies and programs designed to reduce shortage and accident frequency in both Worker's Compensation and General Liability.
  • ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Business or Criminal Justice from an accredited institution
  • Certificate(s) or License(s): Certification in Wicklander Zulawski Investigative Interviewing is preferred
  • Years of experience: 3 to 5 years of supervisory/management experience in a multi-unit retail with experience in training/coaching of field management in AP operations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
    Ongoing verification of driving eligibility will be conducted to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
    Must be at least 18 years old to qualify for this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

  • Experience in the setup and operations of physical security systems (CCTV,EAS,etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to use a laptop, tablet, and/or iPad and mobile phone

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
  • 30% - Travel to assigned stores in the market as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Regular computer work, walking, standing, and sitting.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
  • Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within the general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
