Job description

Crucial Link is hiring in 44130 for a DIRECT HIRE opportunity as a CNC Machinist / Grinder Operator.
Must be willing to submit to a nationwide background check and a pre-employment drug test. All qualified candidates will be considered, regardless of Criminal History.
CNC Machinist / Grinder Operator
Location: Greater Cleveland / Lorain County, OH
Shift: 1st Shift – 6am – 5pm (FLEXIBLE 8 hour shift within that window)
Pay: $24–$32+/hour (based on experience)

About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on CNC machinist with real shop floor experience. You'll set up and operate multi-axis lathes, mills, and grinding equipment while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality standards. This role suits someone who takes ownership of their work, troubleshoots problems independently, and thrives in a production environment.
What You'll Do
  • Set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and/or grinding machines (4-axis grinders, centerless grinders, Swiss-type, multi-turret lathes)
  • Perform tool changes, offsets, and minor program edits (feeds, speeds, wear adjustments)
  • Inspect your own parts using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height stands, and CMMs
  • Maintain accurate production records and quality documentation
  • Troubleshoot machine issues and make adjustments to keep production running
  • Follow safety protocols and contribute to a clean, organized shop (5S, Lean principles)
  • Support and assist less experienced operators as needed
What We're Looking For
Required:
  • 3+ years of CNC machining experience (lathe, mill, or grinder)
  • Hands-on setup experience—not just button-pushing
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
  • Strong shop math skills (geometry, trigonometry, tolerance calculations)
  • Reliable, self-directed, and comfortable working independently
Preferred:
  • Experience with Fanuc controls
  • Familiarity with Doosan, DMG Mori, or similar equipment
  • Lead or supervisory experience
  • Background in tight-tolerance or exotic material machining
  • Forklift certification
