Job description

Job Description:
Analytical Engineering Manager
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers responsible for simulation, design, and development of new and mature products.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product marketing, and industrial design to determine the scope, role, and contribution of the Analytical Engineering team.
  • Assess the merits of multiple design directions and develop a path that balances performance, quality and cost.
  • Meet with direct reports regularly to give technical guidance, manage technical direction, set priorities and establish deadlines.
  • Provide training and guidance to direct reports for career development. Establish goals and objectives for each engineer with regular reviews and performance appraisals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in simulation, prediction and measurement of structural, dynamic, aerodynamic, acoustic, and vibrational performance of consumer power tools.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in reduced order plant models (ROM) to predict system performance using MATLAB, Simscape, Python, or similar languages.
  • Support new product development (NPD) and the Advanced Engineering team in the research and development of new to market products and technology.
  • Research, develop, and implement techniques for multi-physics simulations including but not limited to conjugate heat transfer, spray atomization, aeroacoustics, multi-body dynamics, topology optimization, SPH, SPG, DEM, etc.
  • Manage annual budget including software licensing fees and contract negotiations for existing and future purchases.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Aerospace) or a related engineering field with 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years professional experience managing 1 or more direct reports.
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis or Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation (ANSYS preferred).
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling (NX, SolidWorks or other commercial code).
  • Proficiency in a computational language (MatLab, Simscape, Simulink, Python).
  • Experience in empirical testing, setup, and measurement with knowledge of data acquisition best practices and signal processing.
  • Relevant work experience includes but is not limited to:
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation
    • Multiphysics simulations including but not limited to structural, modal, multi-body dynamics, impact dynamics, CHT, electromagnetics, aeroacoustics, SPH, SPG, DEM, etc.
    • System modeling in Matlab, Simscape, Simulink, Python, or other computational language
    • Laboratory testing and data acquisition including but not limited to sound, vibration, temperature, pressure, flow rate, torque, voltage, current, power, etc.
  • International and domestic travel not required
  • Position is on-site.
