Mueller - HYMAX National Sales Manager
Mueller, the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, has an immediate opening within our HYMAX (Krausz) team for a National Sales Manager. This position, which will be located in Chattanooga, TN, will focus on HYMAX sales growth and share oversight of the HYMAX sales team with Infrastructure Sales leadership to ensure a thoughtful and planned go-to-market approach in the repair clamp market. This role will report to a Senior VP of Sales with strong alignment to the VP/GM Repair & Installation business leader, who will be a primary internal customer.
This role will be responsible for driving initiatives and supporting HYMAX sales via our manufacturer rep network, distributors and end users by utilizing the assigned HYMAX Territory Sales Manager team. This is the overall U.S. Sales Leader role for HYMAX with direct supervisory oversight of HYMAX Territory Sales Management. Market alignment with Mueller's larger Infrastructure Sales team will be key for both Mueller's HYMAX and Infrastructure products to continue flourishing in the water infrastructure market. Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Lead HYMAX sales team to identify opportunities, provide technical services, and help plan field training activities and sales seminars.
  • Define annual sales plan (targets, territories, channel mix, pricing guardrails, promotions) aligned to corporate strategy and budget.
  • Own national pipeline health: coverage, stage velocity, win rates, and forecast accuracy.
  • Engage with external Manufacturer Reps and Distribution partners; identify gaps in coverage and performance.
  • Identify potential markets, new products and analyze the appropriate strategies that should be deployed to optimize growth.
  • Oversee acquisition, retention, and cross sell/up sell strategies for national/key accounts.
  • Escalate and resolve complex commercial issues (terms, contracts, credits) in partnership with Finance/Legal.
  • Managing external councils and customer groups to ensure open communication channels and value-added feedback loops.

More specifically, essential functions will include, but not be limited to, the following:
  • Working with applicable Infrastructure Sales Leaders to execute and iterate the strategy to achieve significant YoY revenue growth.
  • Analyze appropriate product line extensions with product management, research and develop marketing plans to drive sales. Includes gap analysis on products and competitive analysis.
  • Analyze products by region and develop plans for improving price to increase margin.
  • Assist the sales team with identifying opportunities, providing technical and field support, planning of sales training and application strategies. Includes review specifications and providing specification suggestions.
  • Work with marketing support team to review external support documents of the product, including catalogs, literature, and O&M manuals.
  • Manage voice of customer requirements from sales and end users in communications with operations, supply chain, product management and engineering.
  • Prioritize potential markets and new products and analyze the appropriate strategies that should be deployed to optimize growth.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five (5) years' sales management, marketing, or commercialization related experience in water distribution, valves, municipal sales, or related business environments.
  • Primary work location will be Chattanooga, TN, when not traveling
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and other technology-based productivity tools such as Salesforce.com
  • Ability to routinely travel 50%+ of work schedule.
  • Intermediate computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint programs.
  • High level of outgoing interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Self-starter with get it done attitude.
  • Comfortable with public speaking engagements and the ability to deliver presentations to large (30+) groups of customers and other external contacts.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a business, engineering, or communications-related field.
  • Prior direct sales management experience in repair clamp, coupling, water, and/or wastewater industry
  • Prior repair claim knowledge
  • Mechanical aptitude.
