Software Packaging Engineer
Location: Vienna, VA - Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)

Position Description
Seneca Resources is seeking a Software Packaging Engineer to support an enterprise-wide EUC Software Delivery Modernization initiative focused on improving application packaging, virtualization, deployment, and delivery across Windows environments.
In this role, you will assess, repackage, test, troubleshoot, and deploy enterprise applications using Liquidware FlexApp application layering technology. You will partner with End User Computing (EUC), Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, and Business teams to modernize application delivery and transition traditionally installed applications into virtualized application packages.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Windows software packaging, MSI, application repackaging, MECM/SCCM, PowerShell, application deployment, and troubleshooting. Experience with Liquidware FlexApp is highly preferred.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Software Packaging Engineer who enjoys solving complex application delivery challenges and contributing to enterprise-scale technology modernization.
Key Responsibilities
Software Packaging & Application Virtualization
  • Assess and analyze enterprise applications for packaging and virtualization readiness.
  • Create, modify, test, and maintain software packages for Windows environments.
  • Package and migrate applications using Liquidware FlexApp application layering technology.
  • Perform MSI packaging, application repackaging, configuration, and customization.
  • Support application virtualization and layering initiatives across enterprise environments.
Application Testing & Validation
  • Conduct functional, compatibility, regression, and deployment testing.
  • Troubleshoot application installation, packaging, compatibility, and runtime issues.
  • Validate packaged applications across VDI and physical Windows environments.
  • Document testing results, known issues, resolutions, and deployment requirements.
Software Deployment & Administration
  • Support enterprise software deployment using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) and related technologies.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate packaging, installation, configuration, and deployment tasks.
  • Support application lifecycle management from packaging and testing through deployment, updates, and retirement.
  • Monitor application delivery and resolve deployment-related issues.
Engineering & Operational Support
  • Collaborate with EUC, infrastructure, security, engineering, and business stakeholders.
  • Participate in software delivery modernization and application transformation initiatives.
  • Develop technical documentation, packaging standards, procedures, and support materials.
  • Investigate complex application delivery issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Work independently while contributing effectively within cross-functional technical teams.
Required Skills/Education
  • 3+ years of experience in Software Packaging Engineering or a closely related application deployment role.
  • Hands-on experience packaging enterprise applications in Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Strong knowledge of MSI packaging, application repackaging, and software deployment technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM).
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation.
  • Experience troubleshooting application installation, compatibility, deployment, and runtime issues.
  • Understanding of application lifecycle management and enterprise software delivery processes.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to create clear technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with Liquidware FlexApp, including application layering, packaging, and management.
  • Experience supporting Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
  • Experience with application virtualization and application layering technologies.
  • Experience with InstallShield or comparable software packaging tools.
  • Familiarity with profile management and User Environment Management (UEM) solutions.
  • Experience with Splunk, UberAgent, or other endpoint/application monitoring tools.
  • Experience supporting enterprise software delivery modernization initiatives.
