Job description

Location: Silver Bay, MN
Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Training Representative position at our Northshore Mining facility in Silver Bay, MN. The objective of this position is to ensure that hourly and salaried employees in Plant Operations and Maintenance are trained to a standard that supports safe, environmentally responsible, quality, and productive work being performed. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Silver Bay Plant training programs. This position will prioritize, organize, plan, and arrange execution of training for all Silver Bay Plant employees. This position will lead and collaborate with our union training coordinator to create consistency of content in training sessions and create accurate training records in a timely manner. Northshore Mining Company is seeking an ambitious, organized, self-motivated, and highly efficient candidate with proven training experience to facilitate a wide variety of training programs that enhance the effectiveness, safety and productivity of our workforce. Familiarity with heavy industry, and MSHA is helpful with this position.
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Works with multiple departments to understand job descriptions and standards. Ensure training standards are executed and maintained.
  • Communicates with all levels of management and the Union to ensure all training needs are being addressed.
  • Coordinates resource to deliver training of all employees on company policies, procedures, and related MSHA requirements relevant to their position.
  • Develops training tracking system to maintain documentation and refresher requirements.
  • Maintains and facilitates the ISO QSOPs, ESOPs, and work instructions on the SharePoint site.
  • Develops training schedules for all departments.
  • Tracks and creates reports on outcomes of all training and ensures the ongoing maintenance (through the Union Training Coordinator) of company and MSHA training records per policies and regulations.
  • Maintains, tracks, and updates all training programs as required by the department, company policy, procedural and equipment changes, and MSHA regulations.
  • Conducts training audits to ensure training files, procedures, and work instructions are accurate and fulfill all company and MSHA requirements.
  • Reviews training programs for gaps in training material or content to ensure safety and productivity among employees.
  • Collaborates with outside entities and other Cliffs facilities.
  • Identifies future training needs.
  • Encourages employee development to drive continuous learning and knowledge sharing throughout the company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in a training environment.
  • Excellent team-building, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience as a trainer in mining or heavy industry.
  • MSHA Instructor Card Holder.
  • Knowledge of MSHA standards.

The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $112,000. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on numerous factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location and business or organizational needs.
