Summary:
The Safety and Environmental Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily safety and environmental tasks to ensure organizational goals are met, regulatory compliance is sustained, and a proactive safety culture is maintained across all Divisions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the Safety and Environmental staff.
  • Administers the Ohio Machinery Co. leading indicator safety program, SAFEWorks.
  • Evaluate and monitor policies, procedures and safe practices to ensure regulatory compliance is met (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, FMCSA, state and local requirements).
  • Ensure that safety & environmental audits/inspections are conducted and reports with process recommendations are made to assist with regulatory compliance and employee safety.
  • Partner with Parts and Service leaders to ensure safety and environmental policy adherence and best safe practices are established and embedded within operations.
  • Assist safety and environmental staff to design and conduct Ohio Machinery Co. authorized safety training and regular safety communications (i.e. Toolbox Talks).
  • Oversee MSHA Part 48 training per annual refresher requirements and coordinates MSHA Part 48 New Miner training requirements.
  • Monitors the completion of incident investigations to determine root cause analysis and Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) potential.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and an associate degree in environmental, health & safety, or related education is preferred.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience directly leading or mentoring safety teams, coordinators, or industrial technicians.
  • Five years of experience in the environmental, health, or safety field or similar experience.
  • Formidable experience in regulatory compliance related to OSHA, MSHA, FMCSA and EPA.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office.
  • Must be able to travel to all locations including customer job sites multiple days per week.
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication, time management, organization, planning, listening, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess the ability to work with others internally and externally.

Physical Requirements:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
