Job description

The Database Administrator (DBA) / Data Architect is responsible for end-to-end data and database lifecycle ownership, spanning data architecture, application development support (Build), and operational support (Run).
A critical success factor for this role is the ability to act as a business-facing technical leader, bridging:
  • Business stakeholders (process, data needs, outcomes)
  • Application teams (design, build, integration)
  • Enterprise Architecture (standards, governance, strategy)

Operating within Stellantis' product-oriented DevOps model, the DBA ensures that data is designed, managed, and operated as a strategic asset-driving performance, scalability, and business value.
Key Responsibilities:
Business-Facing Data Leadership
  • Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders and technical teams for all data-related topics
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data models and database designs
  • Provide consultative guidance to business and product owners on:
    • Data structure and data flow design
    • Performance and scalability implications
    • Data governance and compliance requirements
  • Lead discussions to align business processes, data architecture, and application design
  • Drive data-driven decision support, ensuring solutions meet business outcomes and KPIs
  • Bridge gaps across:
    • Business → Application (requirements clarity)
    • Application → Architecture (design compliance)
    • Architecture → Operations (run feasibility and sustainability)

Data Architecture & Design
  • Define and maintain logical and physical data models aligned with enterprise and business requirements
  • Design scalable, high-performance data architectures across cloud and on-prem platforms
  • Establish and enforce:
    • Data standards and naming conventions
    • Data lifecycle management (retention, archival, purging)
  • Define data flows, integrations, and dependencies across applications
  • Align all designs with Stellantis Enterprise Architecture and governance frameworks
  • Support data platform modernization and cloud transformation initiatives

Build
  • Design, build, and deploy database objects (tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers)
  • Partner with application teams on:
    • Data modeling and schema design
    • SQL optimization and performance tuning
  • Develop and deploy database code aligned to SDLC and governance standards
  • Participate in design reviews and architecture governance processes
  • Support data migration, environment setup, and release deployments

Run
  • Provide 24x7 operational database support including monitoring and incident management
  • Own and resolve critical database incidents, ensuring minimal business impact
  • Execute patching, upgrades, backup, and recovery validation activities
  • Continuously optimize performance, availability, and reliability
  • Maintain runbooks, automation scripts, and operational procedures

DevOps, Automation & Platform Integration
  • Enable integration of database changes into CI/CD pipelines
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for database provisioning
  • Support observability, monitoring, and automation frameworks
  • Align with cloud platform standards (AWS / Azure)

Governance, Security & Data Management
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory policies
  • Define and enforce:
    • Backup/recovery strategies
    • Access controls and data security
  • Support audit readiness, vulnerability remediation, and risk management

Stakeholder & Product Team Collaboration
  • Act as DBA and Data Architecture SME across product teams
  • Collaborate with:
    • Business stakeholders and product owners
    • Application development teams
    • Enterprise Architecture
    • Infrastructure and cloud teams
    • Strategic partners
  • Support incident, problem, and change management processes

Basic Qualifications:
Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years in DBA and/or Data Architecture roles
  • Experience supporting both Build and Run models
  • Experience in large, complex global organizations

Technical Expertise:
  • Enterprise DB platforms (DB2-Required, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Data modeling (logical & physical)
    • SQL optimization and performance tuning
    • High availability and disaster recovery architectures
  • Working knowledge of Unix (Linux, AIX), Unix tools and editors; Storage concepts (File Systems, Volume Groups)
  • Working experience with Unix Scripting (Korn Shell, Bash)
  • Understanding of main concepts related to connection and transaction management of Java applications (Data sources, Type 2 and Type 4 Drivers)
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS / Azure)
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and IaC practices
  • Familiarity with Data Warehouses and Data Lakes
