SUMMARY

Our client is seeking aDatabase Administrator to maintain and support relational database systemsacross Linux and Windows environments. This role owns the efficient, effectivemanagement of the organization's electronic data, keeping databases highly available,stable, secure, and recoverable. This is a mid-level opportunity — ideal forsomeone with solid MS SQL Server fundamentals and a strong desire to grow intonewer, distributed database technologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain stable test, training, reporting, and production databaseenvironments.
  • Provide on-call support and resolve issues for non-development databasesystems.
  • Participate in all phases of projects involving the database systems.
  • Support application programmers with database tools, techniques, andefficient SQL.
  • Plan, install, and implement programs, scripts, and tools that easedatabase administration and monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain standards for monitoring system performance.
  • Maintain backups of critical databases per disaster recovery procedures.
  • Stay current on new DBMS releases to exploit new functionality.
  • Coordinate and perform database upgrades, installs, and testing.
  • Support daily scheduled database production jobs.
  • Perform table modifications, database sizing, security, and referentialintegrity administration.
  • Devise database reorganization and tuning strategies for optimalperformance.
  • Recommend cost-effective technical solutions during project design andimplementation.
  • Prepare, execute, and document Disaster Recovery procedures; coordinatewith the Disaster Recovery team.
  • Produce monthly reports on database growth and activity.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • 3–5 years total DBA experience
  • 2+ years hands-on MS SQL Server experience
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server internals.
  • SQL scripting, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Linux and Windows shell scripting and cron jobs for resource monitoring.
  • Deploying and maintaining containerized applications.
  • Network connectivity across multi-platform environments.
  • Production support background in a 24x7 environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Works independently with limited supervision.
  • Manages multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Collaborates well across disciplines and technical skill levels.
  • Explains complex technical concepts clearly, verbally and in writing.
  • Communicates tactfully with department heads, managers, coworkers, andvendors.
