Job description

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician to join our fellowship program. The department is pleased to announce a one-year Emergency Medicine Global Health Fellowship.

LLUH started the first global EM fellowship program in the US. Our department sponsors medical missions, physician-exchange programs, as well as long-term development projects focusing on higher education training programs and physician and nursing education. We have active resident involvement in international electives twice a year, and multiple faculty fellowship-trained in global health. It is an exciting time to be a part of global EM as many countries worldwide are just beginning to recognize EM as a specialty making many opportunities for collaboration.
Our fellowship offers a 1- or 2- year track (MPH available for the 2-year track through the University of London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine or a similar MPH program). As a fellow you can expect to obtain skills in public health/epidemiology, tropical medicine clinical skills, global health research, cross-cultural education and emergency systems program development (among others).

Some of our more recent focus countries have been in China, Vietnam, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Puerto Rico and Mozambique. We have a passion for emergency medicine residency training and support two new residencies in Uganda and Mozambique. We have strategic partner organizations such as PLeDGE Health and Good Samaritan Medical and Dental Ministry (US-Vietnam Emergency Medicine Exchange Program).

Fellows will be granted 3 months of global exposure per year of fellowship to involve themselves in global health projects aimed at improving the skills necessary for a career in global health. Domestically, fellows will work in our high acuity tertiary care emergency department, working both independently as well as with residents, along with independent shifts at our advanced urgent care.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $76,500 - 80,000. This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans. More information on compensation is discussed with the departments during the recruitment process.
