What is a moving?

A Moving job involves packing, loading, transporting, and unloading items for individuals or businesses relocating to a new place. Movers handle furniture, boxes, and other belongings, ensuring they are safely moved from one location to another. The job may also involve disassembling and reassembling furniture, organizing items efficiently in a truck, and using equipment like dollies and straps. Movers need physical strength, teamwork skills, and attention to detail to prevent damage during transit.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the moving position?

To thrive in Moving, you need physical strength, stamina, attention to detail, and basic organizational abilities, often with a high school diploma or equivalent preferred. Use of moving equipment such as dollies, hand trucks, and sometimes inventory management software is common, along with familiarity with proper lifting techniques. Strong teamwork, clear communication, and a customer-focused attitude help individuals stand out in this role. These skills are important to ensure efficient, safe, and respectful transport of clients’ belongings while delivering quality service.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in moving roles?

Professionals in Moving roles often navigate a variety of challenges, including lifting and transporting heavy or awkwardly shaped items, working in unpredictable weather conditions, and maneuvering tight spaces such as narrow staircases or elevators. Time management and attention to detail are crucial, as schedules can be tight and clients expect careful handling of their possessions. Additionally, movers may need to adapt quickly to changing circumstances or last-minute customer requests. Teamwork and clear communication with supervisors, clients, and fellow movers can help overcome these challenges and ensure a smooth move.

Is moving job stressful?

Moving jobs can be physically demanding and require careful planning, organization, and strength to handle heavy lifting and transportation. The stress level often depends on factors such as workload, deadlines, and the complexity of the move, but it is generally considered a physically intensive and time-sensitive role.

Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and be part of the most trusted moving company around? At Ferguson Moving and Storage, we're on the lookout for energetic, reliable, and friendly Movers/Drivers to join our growing team. We pride ourselves on offering professional and stress-free moving experiences for our clients, and we want YOU to be a part of that journey!

We’re hiring movers for the summer season, an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to earn extra income during their summer break or as an extra income. More preference will be given to someone who carries a AZ/DZ license. If you’ve got energy, a positive attitude, and the drive to make someone’s moving day a breeze, you belong here.

Why You’ll Love It Here:

  • Get Paid What You’re Worth: $24–$28/hr + tips + overtime + per diems on out of town moves!
  • Earn More for Being Awesome: Up to $4/hr extra for every 5-star review you help earn!
  • Flex Your Schedule: We’ve got shifts that fit your lifestyle!
  • Team Vibes: Work with a crew that feels like family!
  • We Train You: No experience? No problem. We’ll teach you the ropes (literally, moving straps and all).
  • Benefits That Matter: Health & wellness coverage for eligible team members after 6 months of employment
  • 100+ Years Strong: Be part of a company that’s been Canada’s most trusted mover since 1916

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Safely driving our 3 - ton and 5 - ton trucks like a pro (training included)
  • Lifting, loading, and unloading, think of it as getting paid to work out
  • Assisting in packing our client's precious items with care
  • Being the face of Ferguson! Customers love movers who bring great energy
  • Tackling each move as a team
  • Taking care of our gear so we’re always ready to roll!

What We’re Looking For:

  • A valid driver’s license + clean driving record. More preference will be given if you have a DZ/AZ license,
  • Strength, stamina, and a “let’s get it done” attitude
  • Someone who shows up on time, every time
  • A friendly smile and a knack for customer service

At Ferguson, you’re not just a mover, you’re a game-changer in someone’s life. Every move you do makes a difference, and every day brings something new.

Ready to join a crew that’s strong, supportive, and seriously fun? Apply now and let’s move your career forward!
