Position: Supervisory Recreation Specialist Salary: $27.00-30.00/hour +DOE*

(Theater Manager) *Not to Exceed 1 Year; Depending on Experience

MWR Billiken Theater

DUTIES:

Responsible for the overall management and direction of the 400-seat movie theater on Base Kodiak.

Plans and promotes the theater to include scheduling and ordering movies, scheduling use for training and all hands events. Assists in negotiation of agreement with the Navy Motion Picture Service, and prepares appropriate publicity releases in support of the movie theater.


Responsible for all equipment, maintenance and takes appropriate action to correct all maintenance problems.

Supervise and trains employees, plans work schedules, appraises performances, counsels assigned personnel, and recommends personnel actions


Prepares and submits annual operating budget requirements for appropriate and non-appropriate funds.

Directs the operations of a short order concession stand. Orders inventory through venders and prepares items for retail sale. Conducts monthly and spot inventories; reconciles daily sales receipts and makes deposits.


Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Minimum:

1. Professional knowledge of the goals, principles, objectives, methods and techniques of movie theater operations acquired through formal education or a combination of education and experience.

2. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of theater equipment.

3. Work experience supervising support staff.

4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

5. Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office.


Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

  1. Three yearsโ€™ experience demonstrates professional knowledge of movie theater operations to include

retail, supervising support staff, and personnel procedures.
