Job description

Job Title

Student Ambassador-Office of Admissions Campus Visitor Center

Job Purpose

Student Ambassadors provide a welcoming environment at the Campus Visitor Center and a positive first impression of the University of Wyoming to visiting prospective students and their families during the college search process; offer insight about UW and the student experience by leading engaging campus tours; are vital members of the campus visit program; are an integral part of the recruitment process and assisting the UW Office of Admissions in meeting enrollment goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Representing UW to visiting prospective students and their families during weekday campus visits and visitation events.
  • Preparing visit materials for and calling visiting students.
  • Welcoming prospective students and families to campus.
  • Leading engaging and informative campus tours to visiting prospective students and their parents, visiting school or organizational groups, or other persons visiting UW.
  • Providing a positive environment for others to learn more about what UW and Laramie have to offer while being sensitive to the University's values.
  • Answering a variety of questions, either on the phone or in-person, about UW and your experience as a student.
  • Attending and actively participating in all Student Ambassador trainings leading up to the start of and throughout the semester.
  • Working all Saturday visitation events during the academic year and assisting with weekday visitation events.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Undergraduate student in good academic standing and in good standing with the Dean of Students Office.
  • Has a commitment to positively promoting the University of Wyoming, being a strong team member, effectively communicating in multiple ways, and being respectful, responsible, reliable, flexible, and confident.
  • Engages visiting families with relevant information and stories about their UW student experience.
  • Relates well with students, parents, faculty/staff, and other visitors.
Desired Qualifications
  • Takes initiative while working on office projects, whether it's independently or as part of a team.
  • Can learn and articulate facts and information about the UW, its programs, facilities, admissions process, etc.
  • Participates in a broad variety of activities and programs the University offers.
