What is a motorcycle helmet?

Motorcycle helmets are protective headgear specifically designed to reduce the risk of head injuries in the event of a motorcycle accident. They are typically made with a hard outer shell and an inner foam liner that absorbs impact energy. Wearing a motorcycle helmet is often required by law and is one of the most effective ways to protect riders from serious injury or death. Helmets come in various styles and must meet safety standards such as DOT, ECE, or Snell certifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a motorcycle helmet designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Motorcycle Helmet Designer, you need a strong background in industrial design, materials science, and safety standards, often supported by a relevant degree in engineering or design. Familiarity with CAD software, rapid prototyping tools, and certification processes such as DOT or ECE safety regulations is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective communication with manufacturing teams are valuable soft skills in this role. These skills ensure that helmets are both innovative and compliant with safety requirements, providing maximum protection and appeal to users.

What are some common challenges faced by motorcycle helmet designers when balancing safety and comfort features?

Motorcycle helmet designers often face the challenge of meeting rigorous safety standards while also ensuring the helmet remains lightweight and comfortable for long periods of use. Achieving optimal ventilation, noise reduction, and a secure fit without compromising protective materials requires careful material selection and engineering. Designers must also stay updated on evolving certification requirements and rider preferences, making adaptability and ongoing research essential to success in this role.

About SENA Industrial & Our Enterprise Vision

SENA Technologies is a global leader in Bluetooth and Mesh communication systems, trusted by millions in the powersports and outdoor industries. Leveraging our proven expertise in team communication, SENA Industrial is strategically expanding into the enterprise vertical with a next-generation communication solution. We are seeking a Business Development Specialist to lead the market entry of this innovative solution in North America.

Job Summary

In this role, you will be the foundational sales driver, responsible for accelerating the adoption of our next-generation industrial communication solution. Working closely with the Applications Engineering team, you will be the primary driver of market execution. Your mission is to build a robust sales pipeline from the ground up, establish strategic partnerships with channel dealers, and secure high-impact pilot projects. As a core member of the enterprise team, you will have the direct opportunity to scale a transformative business in the North American market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Channel Partner Development & Management: Identify, recruit, and build relationships with channel partners in the target region. Own the ongoing partner relationship — from initial engagement through onboarding and pipeline collaboration.

  • Strategic Prospecting & Pipeline Management: Identify high-potential market segments and build a systematic sales pipeline from the ground up, working both directly with end-users and through channel partners.

  • Active Lead Development: Execute targeted outreach via cold-calling, digital prospecting, and field visits to qualify B2B opportunities among end-users, dealers, and system integrators.

  • Sales Execution & Revenue Growth: Own the full sales cycle from initial contact to closing, with a strong focus on securing pilot projects for field validation and driving revenue growth.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with the Senior Applications Engineer to deliver product demonstrations and support the execution of Proof of Concept (PoC) installations.

  • Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends and competitor strategies to refine sales tactics and provide the product team with actionable field insights.

  • Sales Operations: Maintain a transparent CRM pipeline (NetSuite) and provide concise, data-driven updates on field activity and conversion progress.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; not required for candidates with a strong, demonstrated sales track record.

  • 3–5 years of experience in B2B sales, technical sales, or business development. Experience selling through dealers, VARs, or channel partners is a strong plus.

  • Self-starter who's comfortable prospecting from scratch and staying motivated through longer sales cycles.

  • Comfortable engaging a range of stakeholders, from field-level contacts to senior decision-makers.

  • Willingness to travel up to 40% (initially DFW region); valid driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in construction, telecommunications, or IoT industries.

  • Experience building a market or client base from the ground up.

  • Familiarity with Wi-Fi networking, mesh topologies, or industrial connectivity — or general comfort learning technical products.
