Summary

The Senior Graphic Designer – Brand Creative is a creative leader responsible for developing and directing high-impact visual solutions that shape and elevate the Buckle brand. This teammate in this role exercises significant independent judgment in translating business objectives into compelling creative strategies and design systems. The Senior Graphic Designer leads complex, cross-functional initiatives, assists with establishing brand standards, and influences creative direction across multiple channels. This teammate provides guidance and mentorship to design team members and contributes to the overall creative vision at Buckle.

Creative Strategy and Execution

  • Assist with the conceptual development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns, packaging, and digital experiences, ensuring alignment with Buckle strategy and business objectives.
  • Exercise independent judgment in translating marketing goals into innovative, effective creative solutions.
  • Works directly with Creative Managers to maintain and help evolve Buckle brand standards and visual identity systems across all customer touchpoints.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders (marketing, merchandising, e-commerce) to influence and shape creative strategies that drive business results.
  • Evaluate creative outputs for quality, consistency, and strategic alignment, making decisions on design direction and execution.
  • Drive innovation by researching industry trends, tools, and emerging design practices, and applying insights to elevate Buckle’s brand expression.

Project and Stakeholder Leadership

  • Own and manage multiple complex projects from concept through completion, prioritizing work based on business impact and deadlines.
  • Serve as a key creative point of contact, effectively communicating concepts, rationale, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Provide direction to external vendors, agencies, and production partners, ensuring deliverables meet Buckle quality standards.

Design Leadership and Mentorship

  • Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and constructive feedback to junior designers to elevate team capabilities and output quality.
  • Influence team workflows, creative processes, and best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in design, contributing to the development of team standards and creative excellence.

General

  • Fulfill mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive team spirit.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does not have direct supervisory responsibility but provides functional leadership, creative direction, and mentorship to other designers and may lead project-based teams.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field, and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in creative design roles; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, strategic problem-solving, and execution across multiple mediums is required.
