Motion Graphics Designers are creative professionals who use animation, visual effects, and graphic design to create engaging moving images for film, television, advertising, video games, and digital platforms. They combine artistic skills with technical software knowledge to design visual elements like animated logos, title sequences, explainer videos, and infographics. Their work helps communicate ideas, tell stories, or enhance the visual appeal of content by adding motion to otherwise static graphics. Motion Graphics Designers typically use tools such as Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, and Adobe Premiere Pro. They often collaborate with other designers, editors, and marketing teams to deliver visually compelling projects.

What does a motion graphics designer do?

Motion graphics designers use video and visual design to present an idea or story. Marketing campaigns, technical illustrations, computer graphics, and eLearning platforms all use motion graphics designers. A motion graphics designer's responsibilities are to create quality content that connects with the audience. In this role, you collaborate with a team to develop creative artwork and film animation viewed on handheld electronic devices, the internet, and TV. You may start your design by developing a storyboard, then create a series of graphics, editing and implementing images as you go. Before publication, you review your work and make adjustments as necessary.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a motion graphics designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Motion Graphics Designer, you need strong graphic design abilities, animation techniques, and a solid understanding of visual storytelling, often supported by a degree in design, animation, or a related field. Collaboration often involves participating in brainstorming sessions, sharing drafts for feedback, and integrating motion elements with live-action footage or static graphics. Clear communication and openness to constructive criticism are essential, as projects may go through several revisions before final approval. This team-based approach ensures the final product aligns with the project's vision and meets client expectations.

The Job at a Glance
One does not become a Senior Graphic Designer because they own photoshop. It takes a lot of blood, sweat, tears and hearing, "I love it! But there are a few more changes I think we should make" over the years to become the designer that we're looking for. So, if you've ever named a file that ends in _final_FINAL_2.PSD, then read on.
As our Senior Graphic Designer, you won't just execute campaigns-you will help conceptualize and elevate them to align with our brand identity, drive customer behaviors, and propel our creative vision forward. You will be an active and important participant in the design process, taking ultimate ownership of high-impact projects to support the needs of the Marketing team. We are looking for a highly creative, self-starter who is passionate and motivated to push our visual storytelling to the next level. In collaboration with the Creative Director, you will safeguard our visual standards across both print and digital mediums, ensuring every element is compelling, customer-focused and tightly aligned with marketing strategies and business objectives.
You don't just accept constructive criticism; you actively facilitate critique sessions. You don't hesitate to challenge the status quo, champion fresh perspectives during brainstorming and offer recommendations that directly move the needle on our KPIs.
A Typical Day
  • DESIGN: Create and develop compelling print and digital creative assets across a wide range of platforms, including advertisements, flyers, signage, websites, landing pages, banner ads, social media content, email campaigns, presentation decks, infographics and iconography. Evolve, refine, and optimize existing assets as needed to support business objectives, maintain brand consistency, and enhance the customer experience using tools from the Adobe Creative Suite, personal favorites or sketches on napkins.
  • COLLABORATE: Work with our team to develop and maintain brand standards for all cross-channel platforms and communications.
  • SUPPORT: Contribute to internal and external marketing initiatives by taking on additional creative assignments and project needs as they arise. Actively participate in meetings with cross functional teams, agency partners and stakeholders to share ideas, provide creative input and support project alignment and execution.

To Land This Opportunity
  • Minimum 6+ of professional graphic design experience, with a proven track record of managing complex projects under tight deadlines
  • You're comfortable taking the reins on projects, working autonomously while remaining collaborative and open to feedback
  • You have expert-level knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, with a seamless transition from traditional layout design to high-impact motion graphics and animation
  • You leverage a "tech-first" mindset, using AI to spark inspiration and expedite the creation of multi-channel design assets
  • Highly productive, organized, detail-oriented, self-starter who excels at prioritizing tasks and work both independently and as part of a team
  • You're proud of your work and can articulate the strategic "why" behind your design and conceptual choices
  • Advanced understanding of typography, print production, web accessibility and digital layout standards. (If you happen to know some HTML/CSS to bridge the gap with web teams, that's a massive plus!)
  • You understand how to design to brand standards, audiences' needs and goals while sprinkling a bit of your personal awesome sauce.
  • Photography and video are a major a plus

Extra Awesome
  • Seriously though, we can keep using graphic designer memes all day long. So if you like memes, this is the place for you
  • A proactive mindset, always looking for opportunities to optimize workflows, suggest fresh creative angles and try new tools
