Hours: 7pm - 7am
Position Purpose:
At Holy Cross Health, our Mother Baby Nurses provide skilled, compassionate care to mothers and newborns in private recovery rooms using a couplet care model within our 65-bed unit. This role includes assessment, care planning, interventions, and evaluation, with a strong focus on patient education, particularly in managing co-morbidities that impact postpartum recovery.
This is not a new grad nurse position.
What You Will Do:
  • Use your critical thinking and prioritization skills to adjust to changing patient statuses commonly found in the postpartum and neonatal period according to AWHONN and hospital standards.
  • Interface directly with Physicians for patient advocacy.
  • Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate response to high risk maternal and neonatal complications.
  • Perform all newborn screening tests and standard lab work.
  • Provide hands-on Lactation support at the bedside
  • Patient teachings on basic/ high risk newborn and postpartum care.
  • Maintain appropriate patient care and infection control techniques for the mother-baby dyad.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ASN); basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) preferred
  • Current licensure by the Maryland Board of Nursing or Compact state as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS certification (NRP completed within 6 months of hire)
  • Professional specialty certifications may be required in accordance with departmental standards

Pay rate: $37.88 - $54.19
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
