We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Transportation Foreman to lead crews on Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) highway and bridge projects throughout Arizona.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise daily field operations on ADOT transportation projects.
  • Promote and enforce Ames' commitment to Safety First.
  • Plan daily work activities while coordinating labor, equipment, subcontractors, and materials.
  • Read and interpret ADOT plans, specifications, blueprints, shop drawings, and traffic control plans.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, Project Engineers, Surveyors, and Inspectors to maintain production and schedule.
  • Manage grading, excavation, aggregate placement, drainage systems, concrete work, utility installations, paving preparation, structural earthwork, retaining walls, and roadway improvements.
  • Ensure work meets ADOT quality standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct daily crew safety meetings and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
  • Complete Daily Foreman Reports, production tracking, equipment utilization, and timecards.
  • Monitor crew productivity while maintaining quality and schedule expectations.
  • Assist with project planning, sequencing, and scheduling.
  • Mentor and develop field employees while promoting career growth.
  • Maintain positive relationships with owners, inspectors, subcontractors, and fellow team members.

Candidates should possess experience in several of the following:

  • GPS machine control
  • Heavy equipment operations
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Heavy Civil Foreman or Lead Foreman experience.
  • Previous experience on ADOT transportation projects preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ADOT Standard Specifications and roadway construction practices.
  • Ability to read construction plans, grades, and survey staking.
  • Experience with GPS grade control and layout preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities under changing field conditions.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
