Job description

Funeral Directors & Embalmers are licensed with the State of Connecticut's Department of Public Health. They must have graduated from an accredited school of mortuary science and received passing scores on both the arts and sciences sections of the International Conference of Funeral Service Examining Boards' National Board Examination.
Position Duties:

  • transfer/removals
  • arrangement conferences with families
  • preparations and attending to details for services
  • visitations
  • funerals and memorial services
  • regular cleaning of property, interior and exterior including vehicles
  • dressing, casketing and cosmetizing of deceased
  • schedule to include "on-call" hours including evenings and weekends.
Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited mortuary college
  • Successful completion of the National Board Examination
  • Physical ability to lift and work with deceased human remains
  • Valid and clean driver's license/record
  • Professional appearance and attitude at all times
Job Type: Full-time
Experience:
  • Graduate of an Accredited College of Mortuary Science
  • Successful completion of the National Board Exam (or ability to do so in a timely manner)
  • Ability to register with the State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health as a Embalmer/Funeral Director.
Work Location:
  • Three locations: Plainville, Southbury, and Wallingford, with the home office location being Wallingford.
