Job description

Sonic Loans is seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Processor to join our growing team.

This is a high-accountability position requiring exceptional attention to detail, strong communication, consistent follow-up, and the ability to keep multiple loan files moving accurately and on schedule. The Mortgage Loan Processor will manage assigned files from initial processing through closing while providing borrowers, agents, and loan officers with timely, professional support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review new loan files for completeness, accuracy, and required documentation
  • Review income, asset, credit, and property documentation for completeness and consistency
  • Prepare organized and complete loan packages for underwriting
  • Order and track appraisals, title work, insurance, verifications, and other required third-party services
  • Communicate clearly with borrowers regarding outstanding documents and loan requirements
  • Review underwriting conditions and coordinate with borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, title companies, insurance agents, and other parties to obtain what is needed
  • Review documents for completeness before submitting conditions to underwriting
  • Maintain accurate loan information, notes, documents, and milestone dates in the loan origination system
  • Monitor closing dates, rate-lock expirations, financing deadlines, and other important milestones
  • Provide regular and accurate status updates to borrowers, loan officers, and other applicable parties
  • Identify potential issues early, escalate them when necessary, and follow through until they are resolved
  • Coordinate clear-to-close requirements and assist with the transition from processing to closing
  • Ensure every assigned file is handled in accordance with company procedures and applicable lending requirements
  • Take ownership of assigned files and follow through until all processing responsibilities are completed

Qualifications

  • Previous mortgage loan processing experience is required
  • Working knowledge of conventional and government loan programs
  • Experience reviewing income, asset, credit, appraisal, title, and insurance documentation
  • Understanding of underwriting conditions and residential mortgage documentation
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple loan files and competing deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with borrowers and industry partners
  • Dependable, accountable, and committed to following through
  • Comfortable working independently while contributing to a team environment
