Job description

Role Responsibilities

This individual is responsible for the daily administration of Mortgage Operations including sales support, origination, processing, underwriting, and closing activities while developing a high-performing team and fostering strong referral relationships . Specifically, this individual is responsible for the following significant duties:

  • Oversee the end-to-end mortgage operations process, including sales support, processing, underwriting, closing and funding functions, ensuring timely execution, quality standards, regulatory compliance, and achievement of departmental service-level objectives.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to develop and implement initiatives that increase loan originations, referral activity, market penetration, and member engagement.
  • Coordinate work activities and team staffing levels with the Vice President of Mortgage & Business Lending.
  • Evaluate processes, performance, talent and advise on present and future needs;
  • Drive operational efficiency across underwriting and sales functions by identifying workflow improvements, optimizing technology utilization, and enhancing the overall member experience.
  • Supervise employees within Mortgage Operations. Including interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, evaluating and termination. Allocate workloads, personnel, and equipment resources within the department to achieve Credit Union goals and objectives;
  • Serve as a co-system administrator with the VP of Mortgage & Business Lending for the Encompass origination software platform including implementation of new features, resolving vendor issues, training and maximizing efficient use;
  • Maintain knowledge and train employees on new and updated FNMA, FHFA, CFPB, and MPF/FHLB guidelines;
  • Compile data, create reports, ensure that adequate and accurate reports are available to measure performance and maintain accountability for all mortgage operations functions;
  • Establish performance goals, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement action plans to drive results.
  • Maintain positive relationships and communicate with internal departments as well as third party vendors required for processing and closing mortgage loans including: title companies, realtors, appraisal and survey companies;
  • Monitor loan quality and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Manage daily workflow by ensuring timely pipeline processing and identifying, addressing, and resolving problems as they arise;
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Mortgage Operations rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, and ensure compliance with and adherence to all applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Recommend changes in processes and procedures and communicate updates and changes in policies, guidelines and procedures to the team members;
  • Be "all-in" on making members who experience mortgage lending raving fans;
  • Presents a helpful and positive attitude, focusing on solutions and always promoting a collaborative environment;
  • Practices and brings to life with the team our "Yes And... culture;
  • Comply with established regulations and law requirements;
  • Perform various other duties as assigned.
RequirementsRequired Experience
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience in a mortgage or financial institution with a thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing Credit Unions and pertaining to residential Real Estate.
Skills, Education and/or Certifications Required
  • Two (2) years college with emphasis in Business Administration or Finance (Bachelor’s degree preferred);
  • Requires thorough knowledge in current Windows OS and MS Office software, Mortgage Loan Origination software and automated underwriting systems;
  • Must have the technical ability to train personnel;
  • An organized individual who shows excellent communication, presentation, teamwork, negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Must be capable of performing in a fast-paced office environment.
