What is mortgage coaching?

Mortgage coaching is a service where experienced professionals guide individuals or businesses through the home loan process. A mortgage coach helps clients understand different mortgage options, improve their credit profiles, and develop strategies to qualify for the best possible loan terms. They provide personalized advice, answer questions about the lending process, and support clients in making informed decisions. This coaching can be beneficial for both first-time homebuyers and those looking to refinance or invest in real estate.

What are some typical challenges faced by mortgage coaches when helping clients navigate the loan approval process?

Mortgage coaches often encounter challenges such as helping clients understand complex loan requirements, addressing credit issues, and managing expectations about loan eligibility. They must stay up-to-date with changing lending regulations and effectively communicate these changes to clients in an easy-to-understand manner. Building trust and rapport is key, as clients may feel overwhelmed or anxious about financial decisions, so strong interpersonal skills and patience are essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a mortgage coach, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Mortgage Coach, a strong background in mortgage lending, financial analysis, and industry regulations is essential, often supported by experience in mortgage origination or loan processing. Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS), customer relationship management (CRM) tools, and relevant certifications such as NMLS are typically important. Outstanding communication, mentorship, and problem-solving skills help build trust with clients and support their professional growth. These skills and qualities are vital for ensuring compliance, optimizing client outcomes, and fostering success within the mortgage industry.

Job description

Sales Training Program – Reverse Mortgage Loan Officer

Launch your career in the reverse mortgage industry with the backing of one of America's most trusted financial brands — Mutual of Omaha, a Fortune 300 organization with over 100 years of stability.

What to Expect

Your journey begins with an immersive one-month virtual classroom experience, where you'll build a strong foundation in reverse mortgage products, sales fundamentals, compliance, systems, and customer conversations.

After completing the virtual classroom, you'll transition into a comprehensive 12-month development program designed to accelerate your success. You'll participate in weekly skill-building sessions, receive personalized one-on-one coaching from experienced sales leaders, and apply what you've learned through real-world customer interactions.

Our goal isn't simply to help you become licensed or originate your first loan—it's to develop confident, knowledgeable, high-performing mortgage professionals with the skills, coaching, and support to build a rewarding long-term career.

Who we're looking for:

We especially encourage experienced traditional mortgage loan originators to apply. If you understand the lending business and want to serve a growing, underserved market — retirees looking to strategically strengthen their retirement income — we want to talk!

Don't have your NMLS license? No problem. We'll help you obtain and pay for your NMLS license.

If you have a proven track record of success in sales and are looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while building a rewarding career, we want to hear from you. Our associates help retirees make confident, informed financial decisions, to improve their quality of life. The most successful professionals in this role are those who build trust, ask thoughtful questions, listen with intention, and serve as trusted advisors through one of the most important financial decisions their clients will make.

What you can expect to earn:

  • To assist with the transition you are covered with a monthly base during the 12 month training program.
  • Established Loan Officers in our program routinely earn $100,000+

What sets us apart:

  • The brand recognition and credibility of Mutual of Omaha behind every conversation
  • Industry-leading training from the nation's top reverse mortgage sales leaders
  • A revolutionary sales process for working with both consumers and referral professionals
  • World-class sales, marketing, and operations support from day one

Benefits include:

  • Multiple PPO Medical Plans, including an HDHP-eligible option
  • Dental and Vision Coverage
  • Paid Sick Time — 40 hours after 90 days (state requirements applied as applicable)
  • 9 Paid Holidays + 1 Cultural Celebration Day (Floating Holiday)
  • 401(k) with generous employer match
  • Company Paid Life Insurance

Mutual of Omaha Mortgage is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage diverse, talented, qualified applicants to apply.
