Description
The Dane County Medical Examiner's Office has a current vacancy for a Limited Term Employment (LTE) Morgue Transport Driver.
LTEs are limited to 1,200 hours in a payroll year and are not guaranteed any hours per week.
LTE Morgue Transport Drivers in the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office, shall be paid $50.00 for a 12-hour on-call shift. When LTE Morgue Transport Drivers are called into work, all hours worked are paid at their regular hourly rate in addition to this fee.

DEFINITION
Under general supervision of the Director of Operations, this classification is responsible for the safe and respectful transportation of decedents between the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office and other locations in Wisconsin.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Respond to various morgue facilities and on occasion, death scenes to make careful and respectful removal of deceased individuals. Transport decedents to morgue facilities as directed by administrative staff.

Education, Training and Experience:
Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to high school graduation.
Special Requirements:
Must have (or be eligible for) a valid driver's license.
Background Check Statement: Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. For Bilingual Positions:
- Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.).

Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to eighty (80) pounds unassisted and heavier loads with assistance. Transportations can occur 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Transport drivers work a rotating on-call schedule consisting of 12-hour shifts. While assigned to on-call duty, drivers must remain available to respond and report to the Medical Examiner's Office within 60 minutes of being dispatched. Scheduling is flexible.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to safely operate light transport vehicle. Ability to handle human remains respectfully with a professional demeanor. Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), general knowledge of blood borne pathogens safety. Ability to foster strong relationships with outside county partners. Ability to maintain effective relationships with staff members, and the general public. Ability to perform light preventative vehicle maintenance (check/add fluids, monitor tire pressure, take vehicles in for repair, and assist in cleaning vehicle interior and exterior), and recognize the need for more extensive vehicle maintenance or repair.
