Job description

Medical Imaging Assistant

The Medical Imaging Assistant assists the modality technologist staff in their area of assignment, under the direct supervision of modality imaging technologists and within the Medical Imaging Assistant scope of practice. The Medical Imaging Assistant (MIA) takes assignments, prioritizes and coordinates patient flow between departments, greets patients, escorts ambulatory patients, and transports patients between patient floors and Medical Imaging via wheelchair, stretcher, or bed, depending on patient condition or need of the department. The MIA is also responsible for transporting decedents to the morgue and following the morgue workflow. The Medical Imaging Assistant utilizes all tools, knowledge, and skill to ensure safety of the patient, other staff involved, and themselves at all times. The MIA also assists the technologist in transferring patient on and off of imaging tables and completes minor housekeeping duties as required. Per Diem / Variable Shifts Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Healthcare provider BLS card is required prior to start date.
  • Evidence of completion of an approved 7 hour HIV/Aids Training course, or must complete the 7 hour course within the first month of employment
  • Previous patient transport, patient aide and film library experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of hospital computer systems.
