SUMMARY:

The Beverage Manager is responsible for the beverage program at Moonlight Basin, which includes all beer, wine and spirits. The Beverage Manager plays is a key leadership position within the Food & Beverage team. The Beverage Manager will work closely with the culinary team and events department to plan and execute beverage programing for the restaurants, member events, special events, and weddings. The Beverage Manager is responsible for implementing a robust wine and spirit program to engage the Membership. Inventory management and working with key vendors on product procurement are important components of this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Create signature cocktails and select beer, wine, and spirits for menus at the various F&B outlets each season.
  • Create a robust โ€œWine Clubโ€ program for Moonlight Basin.
  • Develop a strong in-home cellar program with Members based on wants and likes to purchase wines through Moonlight Basin.
  • Expand on the whiskey program at Moonlight Tavern.
  • Expand on the retail beverage offering and formalize a Retail Beverage Program at Moonlight Basin.
  • Implement a cocktail cart for tableside cocktails in the winter during dinner service at Moonlight Tavern.
  • Complete monthly inventory of all beer, wine, and spirits.
  • Own the budgeting process for the different beer, wine, and spirit entities.
  • Vendor relations โ€“ order all beverage product for the various restaurant outlets and events.
  • Develop and manage beverage training programs to ensure all FOH hourly associates clearly understand performance expectations and can speak to the beverages offered.
  • Support day-to-day FOH operations by being an active presence on the floor.
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with our members and guests.
  • Hold associates accountable for completing work efficiently and accurately.
  • Ensure that each member and guest receives outstanding guest service in a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every member and guest, maintaining outstanding service standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Empowered to guarantee total guest satisfaction, display hospitality and professionalism to our guests at all times, take pride in representing Moonlight Basin professionally with our members and guests and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees, members, and guests at all times. In the event of an accident or emergency, seek medical attention if necessary and contact the General Manager or Human Resources immediately.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a positive working environment.
  • Train the various service teams on the various restaurants wine lists, by-the-glass lists, specialty drink lists, proper beverage service techniques, and successful food and wine pairings.
  • Instill confidence with service teams in selling alcohol beverages responsibly.
  • Work the floor in each restaurant one service per week to get to know the Membership and work with the service teams to refine and constantly improve Moonlight Basinโ€™s restaurant service levels.
  • Serve as the in-house expert on optimal wine and food pairings through compliment and contrast.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends in both the culinary, wine, beer, and spirits world.
  • Document Member favorites as notes in the reservation system.
  • Handle Member and guest questions, complaints, and issues.
  • Review, analyze and monitor invoices with buyers to ensure Moonlight Basin was charged correctly, products arrived as expected and the product standard meets expectation. Handle adjustments and returns as needed.
  • Lead seasonal TIPS training with service staff


QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum of 5 years bartending experience. Prior experience in a luxury hotel or private club preferred. Minimum of 3 years hospitality management experience. Prior experience in a luxury hotel or private club preferred.
  • College degree preferred.
  • CMS Level 2, or equivalent, required.
  • Has a deep knowledge of our beer, wine, and cocktail offerings.
  • Self-motivated to meet deadlines, manage priorities, communicate challenges, and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent people skills.
  • Exceptional guest recovery skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of JONAS or TEI preferred.
  • Must be dependable and available to work within the club on weekends, nights and/or holidays based on business demands.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work hours typically vary week to week depending on events and restaurant operations. Condition are typical to those found at a hotel, resort, private club, or event/restaurant venue.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


The position is physically demanding, the incumbent is required to sit, stand, walk, bend down for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects routinely, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, they are required to:

  • Stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch and do repetitive tasks with few breaks.
