Job description

Purpose: The purpose of the Director of Security is to execute plan, direction and coordination of activities relating to the protection, safeguarding and security of company assets, employees, and guests.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees and/or supervisors; carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the resort’s policies, procedures and applicable laws; responsibilities include but are not limited to: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Major Responsibilities

  • Ensure that each guest receives outstanding guest service in a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, maintaining outstanding service standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Empowered to guarantee total guest satisfaction, display hospitality and professionalism to our guests at all times, take pride in representing One&Only Moonlight Basin professionally with our guests and assure that all transactions with guests are handled in a legal and ethical manner.
  • Understand and apply all property safety and security procedures to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees and guests at all times. In the event of an accident or emergency, seek medical attention if necessary and contact the General Manager, Vice President of PSP, and Human Resources immediately.
  • Maintain a favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a positive working environment.

Essential Job Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Plan, examine, analyze, evaluate and manage One&Only Moonlight Basin’s security operations, inclusive of physical security assets and security personnel.
  • Prepare reports and records for management team.
  • Evaluate current procedures, practices and precedents for accomplishing One&Only Moonlight Basin’s activities and functions relative to security.
  • Identify and resolve security related problems.
  • Develop and implement alternative methods for security operation improvement.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities within security area.
  • Review financial reports to ensure security operation efficiency and quality control.
  • Develop preventative security programs, including the supervision of security personnel.
  • Perform audits of security related performance and conducts physical surveys of premise security, including security equipment condition.
  • Conduct, supervise and prepare reports relating to internal investigations of any losses or violations of One&Only Moonlight Basin’s regulations, policies and procedures; develops, implements and manages security training.
  • Assist in preparation of emergency management and contingency planning.
  • Serve as One&Only Moonlight Basin’s liaison with public law enforcement, fire and other agencies as it relates to security at the resort.
  • Direct and coordinate, through subordinate and/or contract personnel, One&Only Moonlight Basin’s activities and security functions, utilizing knowledge of established policies, procedures and practices.
  • Initiate personnel actions such as recruitment, selections, transfers, promotions and discipline or dismissal measures.
  • Prepare work schedules; assign or delegate responsibilities.
  • Provide work directives for subordinates.
  • Set deadlines to ensure completion of operational security functions.
  • Interpret and disseminate One&Only Moonlight Basin’s policy to subordinate personnel; and evaluates employee performance.
  • Reviews daily operating results and weekly forecasting and scheduling, taking immediate corrective action if required.
  • Maintain good working relationships and open lines of communication with all other departments.
  • Ensure a coordinated effort at providing a consistently high level and quality experience for guests.
  • Oversee operations of the department with regard to employee relations, guest service, and compliance to One&Only Moonlight Basin’s standards.
  • Coordinate, supervise and direct all aspects of Security with the support of supervisors.
  • Direct exceptional guest relations and resort experiences by created a quality environment through staffing, programming, and service operations.
  • Prepare the annual budget and achieve set goals throughout the year through proper forecasting and cost controls labor management.
  • Develop a qualified staff of employees and supervisors to understand the relationship between service expectations, guest satisfaction and guest experiences.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment centered on teamwork and mutual respect; actively participate in resort events and gather feedback post-events.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Security department so employees and supervisor achieve and exceed their guest service targets.
  • Ensure costs are controlled throughout the operational departments and results are analyzed regularly to highlight problem areas and take appropriate action.
  • Oversee and coordinate with supervisor team a comprehensive training program for new employees to ensure employees are set up for success.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established resort policies, procedures, and standards of service to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Meet departmental productivity, organization, punctuality/attendance and consistency standards.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Treat guests, vendors, customers and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times.
  • Maintain privacy of our guests at all time.
  • Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times.

Experience/Education Required

  • 5+ years’ in Security Management Operations in a Senior Leadership position.
  • 5+ years’ experience overseeing a Security team in a resort or other hospitality setting.
  • Knowledge of hotel and luxury hospitality operations, security and safety programs, employee relations, preparation of business plans, budget forecasting, exceptional quality of service standards, and long-range planning.
  • Exceptional management skills with a proven track record in mentoring/leading a successful team.
  • Must be detail oriented, extremely organized, professionally polished, ability to work under pressure, accountable and flexible.
  • Strong business acumen, strong experience in managing budgets and forecasting results.
  • Strong leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate the team to achieve high levels of performance and exceed targets and projections.

Bachelor’s Degree

Law Enforcement, Hotel Security experience
