Virtual Monitor Tech

University Medical Center | Phoenix, AZ 85013

Contract duration: 13 weeks with possible extension

Shift: Days 3x12 hours | 36 hours per week

Job Duties

This complex position is responsible for performing remote surveillance for multiple locations, specific to cardio-pulmonary rhythms via a central monitoring station, and for recognizing, recording and reporting potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias following established standards and procedures per applicable regulatory requirements. Work is primarily performed in a centralized monitoring unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Each Technician can potentially watch up to 60 patients due to the highly advanced IT technology capabilities. The incumbent will accurately recognize cardiac rhythms and follow command center policy. Accurately take appropriate action and follow established protocols in notifying local RN staff of changes in cardiac rhythm and arrhythmias. The incumbent is expected to follow proper communication channels in handling routine and emergency situations; follow established protocols/procedures; have awareness of and strive to improve patient outcomes and department metrics. Charge Nurse/House Supervisor Supervisor and Director available.

Monitor Equipment Client and Ascom Shifts & Scheduling "12 hour shifts; 0700 - 1930 and 1900 - 0730 No set schedules. Weekend Requirement Weekends, must work 4 weekend shifts during a schedule. Weekends are Friday, Saturday for nightshift and Saturday, Sunday for dayshift. Example, could work every other weekend or could chose every Saturday during a 4 week period to accomplish the 4 shifts. Holiday Requirement Yes. Is there a call or standby requirement? No, but can occur if the census drops and someone is on low census. Floating Requirements Opportunity to cross train to Virtual Patient Companion or Clinical Connection Specialists. Scrub Color/Dress Code Business casual. Unit/Department specific orientation Yes and for the first group when we go-live there will be a mandatory in person with the Client team.
