Job Summary

The Material Handler safely and efficiently moves and organizes materials in a warehouse, supporting logistics operations for timely delivery and storage.

Primary Duties

  • Safely operate forklifts to load and unload trucks and trailers, ensuring efficient handling of materials.

  • Replenish and move products on pallet racks to maintain organized and accessible inventory.

  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records by documenting movements and storage locations.

  • Inspect incoming and outgoing materials to ensure they meet quality standards and report any discrepancies.

  • Collaborate with receiving clerks and order pickers to ensure timely and accurate placement of materials in their designated locations within the warehouse, facilitating efficient workflow and inventory organization.

  • Perform routine maintenance checks on material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and racks, and promptly report any issues to the maintenance staff for timely resolution.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret order sheets, labels, and instructions.

  • Basic math skills for inventory counts and order verification.

  • Proficiency in using handheld scanners and warehouse management software.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.

  • Proficiency (minimum 1 year experience) in safely operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.

  • Knowledge of and commitment to warehouse safety practices and procedures.

  • Physical Requirement: Must be able to properly lift, pack, stack and wrap up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and use hands to touch, grasp, handle and feel items. Noise level is usually moderate. Warehouse temperature may reach up to 90 degrees during the Summer months.

Education / Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

  • Forklift Operator certification and/or experience preferred; Dorman will offer training and re-certify.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $0.00 to $0.00. This role is also eligible for a bonus. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal pay equity. Compensation decisions are made based on the specific facts and circumstances of each role and candidate.
