Job description

POSITION SUMMARY - Operate powered industrial vehicles such as lift trucks for the staging of baskets at machines and moving of materials throughout the building to support press operations. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT - Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations
  • Perform prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required
  • Ensure that all material is staged to do the job
  • Load coils on to coil car before the previous coil has left the straightener
  • Load coil to straightener and ensure that the coil is centered and flat as instructed by the line leader, then feed to the feeder
  • Perform die set up procedures
  • Load new shaker trays and scrap conveyors
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Clean up any plastic, paper, and pallets and recycle in proper location
  • Ensure all tags from material are kept in correct location for recording
  • Return all check fixtures and control plans and bring back fixtures and control plans for new job
  • Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customers
  • Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findings

SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, caliper, etc.)
  • Close attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to handle very large dies in a safe manner
  • Ability to effectively multitask

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Graduate, GED, or HSDE preferred
Experience: One year of related experience preferred; Experience in a press environment preferred
Computer Skills: Must demonstrate computer literacy
Certificates & Licenses: Must pass and maintain written and driving test for forklift certification as well as crane training
