This is a full time, benefited position with 8 hour shifts (generally 8am-5pm), Monday through Friday with some Saturdays, at our clinic location in Rancho Bernardo.

The Ophthalmic Technician supports the division of Ophthalmology/Optometry at Scripps Clinic Rancho Bernardo. Scripps ophthalmologists and optometrists provide comprehensive eye exams to diagnose and treat a full range of vision and eye problems. The team at Rancho Bernardo is a tight-knit, established and knowledgeable group of individuals who support each other in career development and training.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing patient assessments and technical skills to accurately assess the ophthalmic status of each patient, including emergency procedures and medication administration as appropriate.
- Educates patients and documents patient interactions.
- Works with a variety of machinery, including but not limited to OCT, Visual Field, Corneal Topography, IOL Master, Fundus Photos, Pachymetry, Goldman Applanation Tonometry, NCT, Auto-Refract and BAT.
- Practices infection control.
- Supply and medication ordering and inventory.
Required:
- Current BLS card required.
Preferred:
- Glaucoma and/or pediatric experience
- One year experience in optometry and in ophthalmology
- Ophthalmic Technician Certificate preferred
- Completion of a certified Ophthalmic Technical program preferred
- Ability to scribe
