Our preschool program provides a nurturing, play-based, and trauma-informed early learning environment where every child is seen, celebrated, and supported. We believe that the earliest years are the most formative, and we are committed to giving each child the strongest possible foundation for lifelong learning and success.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our College Park team. The ideal candidate leads with warmth and intention, understands the developmental needs of young children, and is committed to building meaningful relationships with students and families. This is an opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of our youngest learners.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction
- Design and deliver developmentally appropriate, play-based lesson plans aligned to Maryland's Early Learning Standards
- Create a rich, print-rich, and language-rich classroom environment that sparks curiosity and joy
- Integrate literacy, numeracy, social-emotional learning, and the arts into daily instruction
- Use observation and formative assessment to track each child's developmental progress
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including children with IEPs or developmental delays
- Utilize inquiry-based and project-based learning approaches to foster critical thinking
Classroom Culture & Environment
- Build a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom community grounded in Responsive Classroom principles
- Establish consistent routines and structures that help young children feel secure and ready to learn
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually stimulating classroom environment
- Implement positive behavior support strategies with patience and consistency
- Apply trauma-informed practices in all interactions with children
Family & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly and warmly with families through daily check-ins, newsletters, and conferences
- Invite families to be active partners in their child's learning and development
- Maintain open, respectful, and culturally responsive relationships with all caregivers
- Participate in family events, orientations, and school-wide activities
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Partner with teaching assistants, clinicians, and support staff to deliver integrated services
- Participate actively in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional development
- Collaborate with special education staff to support children with IEPs and ensure accommodations are implemented
- Contribute to a positive, mission-aligned school community
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records including attendance, developmental progress notes, incident reports, and family communications
- Complete required documentation in a thorough and timely manner in compliance with Maryland licensing and regulatory standards
- Support portfolio development and authentic assessment practices for each student
Professional Development
- Participate in all required campus and agency-wide professional development and in-service training
- Maintain current certifications and meet all continuing education requirements

- Knowledge of Maryland Early Learning Standards and developmentally appropriate practice
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Valid Maryland criminal background clearance
