Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mold Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up injection molds, configuring auxiliary equipment, following established manufacturing processes, performing preventative maintenance, conducting safety checks, and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure optimal production quality and efficiency.
Schedule Options
  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
  • Night Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM (12-hour shifts)
  • Rotation Pattern: 2-2-3 schedule (work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days, then alternates)

Pay rate: $27/hr (commensurate with experience)
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and maintain safety protocols while operating injection molding equipment
  • Configure and set up injection molding machines according to production schedules and job specifications
  • Install and align molds, calibrate process parameters, and program machine controllers
  • Set up auxiliary equipment, including robotics, material handling systems, and temperature controllers
  • Manage raw material handling and processing according to manufacturing specifications
  • Perform quality control inspections and troubleshoot production issues
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and safety checks on molding machines and peripheral equipment
  • Document process data, production metrics, and quality control results
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and safety programs
  • Provide technical support across manufacturing operations

Experience and Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Post-secondary education or certification in injection molding technology, plastics engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of combined experience: 1+ year as Mold Technician and 3+ years as Set-Up Technician (or equivalent combination of training and hands-on experience)
  • Physical capability to lift up to 60 pounds and maintain standing/walking position throughout 12-hour shifts
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting skills for hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documentation, blueprints, and process specifications
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience with injection molding process optimization and cycle time reduction

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Certification in Scientific Molding, RJG training, or similar technical credentials
  • Experience with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and quality management systems
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodology
  • Knowledge of common injection molding materials (ABS, PC, PP, PE, PET, etc.)
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs for injection molding equipment
  • Proficiency with common molding machine controllers (Fanuc, Allen Bradley, etc.)
