Job SummaryThe Bekum Blow Molder Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, adjusting, and troubleshooting Bekum shuttle blow molding machines to produce quality products safely and efficiently. This position supports daily production by performing machine setups, product changeovers, quality inspections, and minor equipment adjustments while ensuring production goals, safety standards, and quality requirements are consistently achieved.
The Bekum Blow Molder Operator also provides day-to-day direction and support to packers assigned to the production line and works closely with Production, Maintenance, and Quality teams to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations- Operate, monitor, and adjust Bekum shuttle blow molding machines to meet production schedules.
- Perform machine startups, shutdowns, and product changeovers.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
- Perform routine quality inspections and ensure finished products meet established specifications.
- Remove defective products and report quality concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation.
- Support production goals while minimizing downtime and scrap.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance- Perform basic troubleshooting and machine adjustments during production.
- Identify equipment issues and communicate maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist Maintenance with repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment changeovers as needed.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic operator maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Ensure Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures are followed during machine setup, maintenance, and changeovers.
Teamwork & Operational Support- Provide daytoday guidance and support to packers assigned to the production line.
- Cover packing responsibilities during employee breaks, absences, or production needs.
- Work collaboratively with Production, Maintenance, and Quality personnel to resolve operational issues.
- Follow written and verbal work instructions and production schedules.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and safety.
Safety & Compliance- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Follow OSHA, IOSHA, and company safety requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or incidents to supervision.
Qualifications & Skills- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience operating Bekum shuttle blow molding machines strongly preferred.
- Experience with extrusion blow molding equipment preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to perform machine setups, product changeovers, and minor equipment adjustments.
- Ability to supervise and support production packers during assigned shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
- Effective communication, teamwork, integrity, and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, and additional hours as business needs require.
