Job Title: Mold Setter

Job Description

This role focuses on setting up and changing molds for plastic injection molding machines and performing beginning to intermediate processing duties. You will prepare equipment for production, ensure proper machine setup, and support smooth start-ups under the guidance of a Process Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hoists safely to pull and set large molds approximately the size of a car.
  • Perform all material handling duties, including staging, loading, and moving materials to and from machines.
  • Set up and troubleshoot all backside setup duties on injection molding presses.
  • Install hot runner cables and related connections to ensure proper mold operation.
  • Set up and load robot programs as required for each job.
  • Load and verify process parameters according to the setup checklist.
  • Ensure the cell layout matches the approved layout documentation (blue book).
  • Complete all required setup checklists accurately and on time.
  • Purge new material in preparation for start-up, ensuring proper material changeover.
  • Perform simple machine start-ups under the direction of a Process Technician.
  • Confirm all components and materials from the previous job are removed from the work area before starting a new job.
  • Verify housekeeping is completed and the work area is clean and organized prior to press start-up.
  • Perform mold changes as needed based on instructions from shift leadership.
  • Set up jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, and stamping tools on machines used for shaping metal, functioning as a setup operator for production tools.
  • Support changeovers and machine setups to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1.5 years of experience in plastic injection molding mold setting.
  • Hands-on experience with plastic injection molding machines and mold setup.
  • Ability to clearly explain previous mold setting experience, including how molds were set up, what equipment was used, and what materials were processed.
  • Proficiency in operating hoists and handling large molds safely.
  • Ability to perform material handling tasks in a production environment.
  • Capability to perform backside setup duties and basic troubleshooting on injection molding equipment.
  • Experience installing hot runner cables and related mold connections.
  • Ability to load and verify process parameters according to established setup checklists.
  • Basic skills in loading and running robot programs for molding operations.
  • Ability to purge and change materials correctly in preparation for start-up.
  • Capability to perform simple machine start-ups under guidance.
  • Strong attention to detail in completing setup checklists and verifying cell layouts.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with die setting and mold setting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Background in operating or setting up molding machines for plastic injection molding.
  • Familiarity with changeovers and machine setup for different tools and molds.
  • Experience setting up jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, and stamping tools on machine tools.
  • Comfort working on multiple shifts and adapting to a rotating schedule.
  • Strong communication skills to describe equipment, materials, and processes used in prior roles.

How the schedule works:

  • Work three 6.25-hour shifts Monday through Wednesday (18.75 hours total)
  • Work two 12.25-hour shifts on either Thursday & Friday or Saturday & Sunday (24.5 hours total)
  • Your Thursday/Friday and Saturday/Sunday assignments rotate weekly
  • You'll work approximately 43.25 hours per week

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $47840.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
