They collect air and surface samples, use laboratory techniques to detect the presence and type of mold, and assess the potential health and structural risks. Mold Analysts often provide recommendations for remediation and prevention to ensure safe and healthy indoor air quality.

Mold Analysts often encounter challenges such as accurately identifying mold species in complex samples, working in environments with strict safety protocols, and managing tight turnaround times for reports. They must stay current with evolving laboratory techniques and standards, and often collaborate closely with industrial hygienists, remediation specialists, and clients to interpret results. Maintaining precise documentation and ensuring quality control are also crucial aspects of the role, as even small errors can impact client health and regulatory compliance.
