Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for degreed and experienced Content Developers to fill contract positions in Atlanta or Birmingham. 
WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE
 

  • This full-time hybrid position is available in Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA and surrounding areas.
  • To effectively support customers, business partners, and collaborative work activities, candidates should be located within commuting distance of the selected office location and available to attend in-person customer meetings, collaboration sessions, and other business-related events as needed.
  • In-office attendance is driven by business and customer needs rather than a fixed weekly location schedule.
  • Work will otherwise be performed remotely.
  • Position includes frequent travel to field locations, including commercial and industrial facilities, with work performed in both indoor and outdoor settings.

POSITION SUMMARY
 

  • A Content Developer II, Instructional Design, is responsible for working with stakeholders to plan, design, develop, and deliver audiovisual and text-based online content that supports employee learning and performance on specific topics or skills.
  • This role involves meeting with stakeholders remotely or in person, reviewing existing instructional materials, independently planning, collecting, and editing audiovisual recordings, documenting task details, and creating online instructional modules using an existing software platform.


RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Communication:

  • Collaborates with L&D instructional designers, stakeholders, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify and prioritize training needs, define objectives, and understand target audience requirements.
  • Participates and/or leads meetings to gather requirements, clarify priorities, and collect stakeholder input, ensuring feedback is incorporated in content creation.
  • Coordinates with points of contact at field locations to schedule media collection sessions, including sessions that may be scheduled for times outside of normal business hours.
  • Completes any required safety or compliance training, or other prerequisites, required as part of onsite work.
  • Provides regular communication to leadership and stakeholders on project progress, risks, and key updates, maintaining accurate status tracking within project management tools


MEDIA COLLECTION 

  • Travels to field locations as needed to collect photographs, video recordings, audio recordings, and other media to support training content creation.
  • Maintains and operates digital still cameras, video cameras, microphones, and similar equipment to capture media in indoor and outdoor locations.
  • Reviews, transfers, and organizes digital media for use in instructional content.


CONTENT CREATION

  • Works with SMEs, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to design and develop clear, concise step-by step instructional modules using collected media and other instructional materials.
  • Reviews existing instructional procedures, guidelines, presentations, and related documentation to confirm accuracy of instructional content.
  • Edits collected media as needed, using provided hardware and software, for use in instructional content.
  • Produces finished content that conforms to defined technical and style standards.
  • Facilitates content review sessions and works closely with stakeholders to validate materials, ensuring accuracy and alignment with learning objectives.
  • Revises existing instructional modules as needed, based on stakeholder feedback or changes in associated technical details or standards.
  • May also collect 3D scans of commercial or industrial facilities, using provided hardware and software, to support creation of instructional content.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Video Production, Business, Instructional Design, or related field preferred, or equivalent academic, internship, or practicum experience in instructional design or multimedia content creation.
  • Portfolio and/or work examples will be required.


EXPERIENCE

  • Requires 5–10 years of experience in digital audiovisual content creation with a proven track record of designing and delivering effective, high quality training content.
  • Experience in producing multimedia training content for technically complex tasks and activities is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in training, especially in industrial facilities, is preferred.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively engage with subject matter experts and stakeholders, translating technical, soft skill, or industry-specific content into clear, accurate, and instructionally sound training materials, supported by strong verbal and written communication skills.


TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY

  • Proficiency in using digital still cameras, video cameras, and microphones to collect professional-grade audiovisual content in studio, indoor, and outdoor settings.
  • Proficiency in editing raw digital images and videos to produce high-quality finished deliverables.
  • Familiar with videography best practices in lens selection, shutter and aperture configurations, framing, composition, lighting, and sound recording.


LOGISTICS

  •  Able to arrange travel accommodations, including vehicle and hotel stays.
  • Able to transport audiovisual equipment weighing up to 50 pounds to field locations.
  • Able to work in outdoor settings that may involve hot or cold conditions, utilizing safety best practices to work safely.
  • Able to use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) required for field conditions, including but not limited to: hardhat, safety glasses, safety-toed shoes, gloves, and other PPE typically used in industrial work settings.
